and the weird default control panel on the desktop, with user manager og printer manager or something
looks like my oldest screenshot is RH9 (from 2003). Anything older i probably lost because i wasn’t using raid yet. http://jasonfarrell.com/images/screenshots/screenshot2.png and too lazy to dig through boxes of rotten floppies
hm. what do I need to do to rebuild a rpm package? rpmbuild –rebuild ntop.src.rpm gives me error: cannot write to %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES
are you building as root?
vzduch, no as tobias
well, the error msg leaves no doubt about what the problem is
vzduch, sure, but I remember buiding stuff like this before. something changed w f7 I don’t know what..
tobi1canobe, install rpmdevtools and run rpmdev-setuptree
Darkon, will try thanks
i second Darkon’s advice take notes.
I’m not (yet) into RPM building, I was just interpreting the error msg
taht is apparent
kernelpatches work without a reboot?
normally not
even with kexec?
never heard of
2.6.22-4 -65 is it stable? it’s release in Fedora 7 22nd August Fedora is testing on itself, playgarden for the comercial red hat :/
So?
is this kernel stable? fedora is a home version of red hat?
No it isn’t.
My server’s less stable on 2.6.20-1.2320, fc5 it came with fc7 :/
JohnMahowald, well it kinda sorta is
I have run 2.6.22.4-65.fc7 for days at a time. but a version of Red Hat it is not
smooth sailing with 2.6.22.5-77.fc7 too
well not per se, but its a community source red hat sponsored desktop operating system of totally open source using the redhat package management system
the rpm package management system
rpm lol means redhat package management
what do you propose I do?
test kexec if you want
what is really the difference between fedora and red hat? Not alot when you get to bits and pieces
zcat, is the new kernel in the repo yet?
is it a testing distro? if programs work there they take it up to the commercial distro etc ?
can anyone tell me how to build atrpms kernel packages (kmdls)? i’ve got a spec & the sources but rpmbuild just creates the regular packages
wamty yes there is. fedora is a lot more bleeding edge but it definitely takes on redhats flavor and stability
Red Hat has it’s own commercial reasons for what it offers. Ask them.
fedora is testing for rhel, yes, but its stable anyway?
robberknight, this is really, and I mean really not the place to talk atrpms its a trade off petterah
got any channel for atrpms?
You people are narrow minded, you’re only thinking of Red Hat.
f_newton, ok, but i know ppl using it for server too
lemme see… is there a bastardized package channel?
well, RHEL is released every two years, so it takes couple of Fedoras to get there.
petterah, thats not smart eol comes way too early for that
what is your concern? I mean do you need bleeding-edge or stability?
seems like you don’t like atrpms…
what i need, i can’t get hehe, i need both
robberknight, it has its issues
not bleeding edge, but not as old as in some distros
lol robberknight look atrpms are not f7 written. they are bastard files that cause major problems with the kernel
CentOS?
good choice mceith uh scuse me mceith I mean mcepl
o0
thats why i’m trying to rebuild their packages
robberknight, whatever…
yeah, centos is ok
it’s coping now
or do you have another way to get asterisk packages?
Ive been looking at scientific linux as well dont use em
does it make any difference contrary to CentOS (barring some special packages for scientitsts)?
robberknight, if you want to take a source file and rpmbuild it for fedora no one will stop you mcepl, dont know yet. from what I was told its merely recompiled rhel
… but no ones going to help me either
lol I fail to understand. What do you need? building rpms is pretty standard stuff.
even sourceforge uses fedora :p
yeah, but not the special kmdl stuff atrpms uses ok, goodbye. looking somewher else
atrpms is not compatible with fedora naming conventions or file locations
both of them are (and that’s pretty good IMHO, but I am biased)
mcepl, look if you cant buy rhel use centOS or scientific linux hosting and save up until you can. Redhat needs to be the number one server os because that will generate mucho income-o for me-o
how do I build srpms on Fedora Core 3? yum doesn’t seem to have a package named fedora-rpmdevtools
me too
Shiba, this channel doesn’t deal with fc3 sorry
i don’t think you’ll get much help with FC3 here
which does?
fedora-legacy?
upgrade to something more reasonable — FC3 is really archeological piece
look, I’m stuck with a legacy system
dead
Fedora legacy is dead
it can’t be upgraded
oh crud
why?
Shiba, thats the biggest reason why you should stick with a longer life cycle os if thats your case
because its a production machine running DNS, NFS, …. etc and can’t be down for more than a few minutes at a time
like centOS
I have an mplayer.rpm package from rpm.livna.org installed but it does not have samba support. In the description it says there is an “rpmuild option” ‘–with samba’. How can I use this?
you are crazy to run thing like that on Fedora
Shiba, first off you should have a redundant server
I just need rpmbuild yes, I know how it _should_ be done but that isn’t possible right now
well you might find it on …. whats that finley site?
rpm -i mplayer*.src.rpm and then edit mplayer.spec
stanton-finley
sourceforge uses fedora core 2, thats really old
ok
they have probably their own people to keep up
Shiba, look on the stanton-finley web site
ERROR 0002: file ‘ntop-3.2/plugins/.libs/librrdPlugin-3.2.so’ contains an invalid rpath ‘/home/tobias/rpmbuild/BUILD/ntop-3.2/myrrd/.libs’ in [/home/tobias/rpmbuild/BUILD/ntop-3.2/myrrd/.libs]
its the one with that purty lil redhatted female
mceith, yeah, i think so too, they use a 2.6.17.4 kernel… last time i looked
is it abad sign if the live cd brings a whole set of bugger I/O erros?
DRebellion, no need for spec editing if it has a rpmbuild options. get the mplayer .src.rpm and run “rpmbuild –rebuild src.rpm –with samba”
that rpath must die
sure, don’t use rpath. Where is the package from?
mceith, sourceforge mceith, src.rpm for centos4
go to the build directory and run ./configure –help | grep rpath What’s the output? what’s your system?
the part I dont understand is there is no relative path when error 2 is supposed to be one. let me paste the whole thing mceith, f7
that should be mcepl BTW there is rpath there, and it shouldn’t be.
mcepl, oups, the tab key got me
I get the error “error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES “
from what program?
rpm
hello everyone i need some help please
the full command i used was ‘ sudo rpm -i mplayer-1.0-0.76.20070612svn.lvn7.src.rpm’ just ask
do you need ntop for F7?
mcepl, hang on a sec, BUILD is empty, starting over mcepl, do you have something better?
well, all my NTFS partitions appear, but they appear empty, and I can’t access anything inside… can you help me?
if yes, then run “ntop ‘fedora 7′” through google — one of the first links I got is http://bellet.info/build/success.psp http://bellet.info/build/job.psp?uid=302 I have no idea, how to manage that website, but it looks better than src.rpm for CentOS 4
That’s a private instance of plague.
I know
I can get his logs but not the packages
that doesn’t work trying rpm.pbone.net http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/4207906/com/ntop-3.2-2.fc6.rf.i386.rpm.html
your ./configure –help | grep rpath returns nothing
OK, try to run in the build directory (and it to the %build stage in .spec if it succeeds): autoreconf -i;libtoolize –force;autoreconf then run ./configure as with the original build do you have by chance x86_64?
mcepl, I didn’t understand that mceith, no 32 bit here
what? go to BUILD/ntop*/ and run these three commands
I’m pretty well stuck here
ah ok. I thought you wanted me to put them in the spec file
how do i find a process and kill it?
what do you get from rpm -q \*devtools
package *devtools is not installed
mcepl, http://rafb.net/p/20grYa40.html
sorry, it should be rpm -qa \*devtools
DRebellion, can you assist me on my problem? or anyone…
sorry i don’t know anything about ntfs linux integration
ok, thank you
it returns no text
iiac, F7 comes w/ ntfs-3g by default
well, all my NTFS partitions appear, but they appear empty, and I can’t access anything inside… can you help me?
so if you mounted the drives correctly, everything should show up
oh boy, no wonder there are so few builds of ntop, when it gets so screwed autotools setup
how did you determine they are “empty” ? what commands/methods did you use to find this information ?
give me a second
?
opsec, it means that I had all my NTFS partitions automounted, until today, I went to the /media/ and they appear as folders but once you open them, there’s nothing there.
what’s your distro?
then they aren’t mounted
Fedora 7
mcepl, I guess I’ll just run with the pbone package. f8 is not to far away so if it screws up my setup it’s only for that long
yum install rpmdevtools
ok
opsec, but i had ntfs3g for automounting, i wonder why it stopped
dpaste.com
i will help you get it working again
you can try to rebuild from that .src.rpm, but otherwise just don’t bother with recompilation, I guess. (if it installs, that is)
mcepl, downloading the rpm now
finally….got my 250G drive in the machine at work… just in time to mirror an unfrozen development tree bfinally….got my 250G drive in the machine at work… just in time to mirror an unfrozen development tree/b

su –login then run that command also, read this – command not found
“command not found?” A: Run the command AS ROOT after switching users with “su –login” or “su -” in order to get root’s command PATH so the command WILL be found; don’t run “su” by itself. If it’s still not found, then either it’s not installed in a standard path location (echo $PATH), is not executable (chmod a+x), is in your current dir (./runme), or you’ve spelled it incorrectly.
BTW, the original page of Dag’s RPMs for ntop is http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/packages/ntop/info.html
it needs old .so
is this fc6?
yes it is
ok cat /etc/fstab dpaste.com
opsec, http://dpaste.com/18945/
also, i don’t see ntfs-3g installed either
Hm wierd, I remember installing it a few months ago… I was advised to install it, actually.
Infernalord, dont feel strange several of my packages have vanished
yey! this is the way to go
http://www.ceplovi.cz/matej/tmp/Obrazovka.png
yum install ntfs-3g
f_newton, that sucks
http://dpaste.com/18946/ as long as your directories in /media exist
isn’t ntfs-3g kernel module?
no
I have no idea…
hmm, just a thought
opsec, http://dpaste.com/18947/
kmod-ntfs is though
but your paste with the wrong login list ntfs-3g, so are you using copy/paste correctly?
hm? yeah i am
rpm -qa | grep -i ntfs
http://dpaste.com/18948/ it appears, lol
mount -a
done
check your directories in /media you see files there?
ok ah yes, they all appear now what was the problem, after all?
i don’t know it appears there wasn’t one
what does mount -a do?
they weren’t mounted as i originally suggested man mount
wierd, isn’t ntfs-3g supposed to automount?
no you have to specify it in fstab
I see…
yum install fwfstab
Thank you very much
graphical fstab editor
opsec, thank you very much I will be leaving, still got work to do, have a nice rest of day
EvilBob, ping
Hi Jef
EvilBob, the rsync scripts you sent me through memoserv… do they still work with the current rawhide?
Packages/.
Doubtful as the tree changed, I don’t try to sync rawhide ivazquez is correct so I guess they should if they were set up right in the first place I can neither confirm or deny this
EvilBob, do i just need the srpm or do i need the config tarball as well?
the config tarball goes in to /etc/something, let me check the config tarball goes in to /etc/sync.conf.d that would replace anything that came from the srpm anything that came in the srpm in that dir
the ‘Fedora’ rpm dir got renamed to ‘Packages’ eh? suppose that makes more sense
all the modern world configuration is in the fedora.sync file
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/development/i386/os/
that one file will replace all the others for F7 and newer IIRC
heh now if they can just fix synaptic touch pads …
Mine works fine
mine works fine too thats my $.02 now i gotte get packing
any other “me too” in the crowd?
nipple++
what did I expect, “monkee__ see, monkee__ do”
EvilBob, holy crap..do these configs rsync everything?
and then some all can be enabled or disabled, tweaked to meet your needs
EvilBob, i think its not syncing f7 :-
do you have the ‘fedora.sync’ file?
EvilBob, not in the tarball
sorry, let me get that for you
EvilBob, i think i can deal EvilBob, i have to nuke most of these configs anyways
sent you the URL in a PM we are hoping to resume active development of the script in the next month hoping we can get the rsync mirror lists from Matt’s Mirror tool…. forgot the name
let the great resyncing of the world begin!
like bender rebooting in to penquin mode?
heh, there’s a weird error in f7 with the rt2500 driver, it won’t save the wifi settings, so you have to reapply all the WPA settings every boot, any ideas if thats being fixed in f8?
f8 hasn’t been released yet.
i know that jeevan_ullas i meant, is it *going* to be fixed
i thought it was never a problem.
is for me :s it tries to configure wlan0 on boot and it waits for like 2 mins then carries on booting it’s pretty odd
Hey, I booted up with my wifi card switched off, can anyone tell me how to enable it?
and sometimes it just plain doesnt connect :s
rescan the installed devices or whatever I get “configuration for wlan0 not found.” from ifup
jeevan_ullas, i’m going to try again because I think I may have sorted it out wrong - it say’s on a interview with a fedora dev that all wireless cards work at boot, well the ones that are supported out of the box all wireless cards with drivers built into fedora*
can I talk now?
hey homeskillit
dunno if you can
just testing I’m a noobfish
/j #test
is ubuntu a four letter word in here?
Nope 6 letters like every where else
LOL
four letter word?
patch!? lol Hi ppl, just wondering, has anyone had any luck with applying the mac patch for GTK+ that’s been flying around.. in fedora? I’ve managed to install it on ubuntu using debs but wanna have a bash at doing it properly
i can’t activate desktop-effects any tip on that?
um, have you got hardware acceleration?
how do i check that? *sry*
what video card
what kind of graphics card do you have?
it is a nvidia 8600 GTS so it should have it
have you got the nvidia driver for your current kernel from livna?
uname -r
yes
rpm -q kernel rpm -q kmod-nvidia
glxinfo | grep -i “Direct Rendering”
Livna Display config?
paste2 iT|Freel “cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
rpm -q kernel kernel-2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 kernel-2.6.22.4-65.fc7 rpm -q kmod-nvidia kmod-nvidia-100.14.11-1.2.6.22.4_65.fc7
uname -r
2.6.22.4-65.fc7 one sec http://rafb.net/p/jt7U8Z71.html there is no glx module in that config, perhaps that’s the issue?!
no you are running dual screen
yes, but i am running it on the system i am chatting with right now too and here beryl and desktop-effects are working
lol VileGent
you might want to try adding the glx module as you thought iT\ Freel
okay, and i don’t need kmod-nvidia-96xx, do i?
I use that series driver for stability but for all intents and purposes, no.. the one you have will do
nope
so should i restart x after adding it?
yup ctrl+alt+bkspace
i know, thx
lol just checking
no, still not working
Ooh.. um, check your Xorg.log oh, you might need to drop to init 1 and come back to 5.. there’s that livna module checker servicey thingy running in the background.. it may need to be restarted
http://rafb.net/p/8Tbxt361.html okay, one sec
the glx module is being loaded anyway!?? that’s weird
i added it?!
Oh sry, got wires crossed for a sec
hehe, (: does it look good so far 4 u? the log^^
there’s nothing in there to suggest any problems.. could you paste your Xorg.log.old too.. see if theres any diff other than glx (:
i restarted it twice, so i don’t think that it is the one, you would like to see
ah right, no worries.. when you try to activate desktop-effects, what happens exactly?
init5 = no change
ok
oh i got an error, never did before one sec http://rafb.net/p/zXQV0542.html “RandR” “Enable” @ device ?!
hmm,, that may have something to do with the multiple monitors.. in the log it activated fine (line 580)
but there is no RandR setting in my xorg.conf
thats ok
which packages have to be installed for desktop-effects?
compiz, desktop-effects, compiz-plugins and maybe a couple of others as dependencies ooh, did you have this line in your Xorg.conf Option “AddARGBGLXVisuals” “true”
sudo yum install compiz desktop-effects compiz-plugins Nothing to do so they are there Option “AddARGBGLXVisuals” “True” Option “DisableGLXRootClipping” “True” for both, Videocard0 and 1
this is really buggin’ me now.. I can’t see anything wrong with it.. the only other thing I can suggest is to try and use a 3d game like Sturmbarhnfarhrer (I’m never sure of how that’s how it spelt) if that works, try using beryl instead of plain compiz
what i really want to do is using compiz-fusion but i can’t get it work so i first wanted to try enabling the desktop effects and it is spelled sturmbannführer
ü
oh, I see have you got the kagesenshi repo installed and activated?
i had can i offer you a cigarette for the amusement?
I’m pretty much out of ideas now.. everything seems to be in order from what you’ve shown me.. lol - if I smoked that’d be handy round now short of a restart and hope I’m stuck
ahh okay then good luck on that case -o+i
iT|Freel, (WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or directory)
doesn’t run on my system either.. but 3d works fine and compiz fusion
have you tried it with a different theme? Theme directory 48×48/mimetypes of theme Snow-Apple has no size field
had this error 4ever on beryl should i change it in emerald-theme-manager?
I think thats your icon theme its on about mimetype being the clue
okay, let me have a look, where to change it
ive never used beryl and compiz and stuff all about xfce and flux
(: i like the eyecandy
same here
and my friends a rubbering
gotta admit.. the ‘box wm are really fast s*
with a different theme it isn’t working too
is there any difference between a bunch of servers in a load balance pool and a cluster?
iT|Freel, its doing you a favour
saving your resources foryou
having tons of them it a new system
can you use any 3d apps atm
and would be a shame if i dont fully use it
on either screen?
e.g?
nexuiz glxgears?
sturmbarnwhatever
don’t know if i have one installed and nexuiz has about 260M a bit much just for testing
ok, glxgears will be easiest to fetch (should already be there - I think)
is working fine
yeah fedora7test iT|Freel, how many fps?
10909.623
nice
cool so its working properly glxgears isnt a good benchmark though
but it’s good enough for testing isn’t it
if you had the kagesenshi repo installed.. did you install any parts of compiz fusion from it?
yes all of them but i started fusion-icon
groovy, try starting one from a terminal
and my borders disappeared
Ah, that’s your decorator
already removed them should i install them again?
install heliodor
just helidor?
it’ll use the metacity themes
or fusion too
oh yeh, that too lol
- kind of stupid today
welcome to the club..
perhaps caused by my megrim and by my not-sleeping-for-80hrs
perhaps caused by my excessive alcohol consumption over the past 4 hours or so
could be
I type well for a drunk
you definitly do did u use the released or the testing repo?
myself? I used the release
iT|Freel, you know mixing alot of repos can cause problems right?
yes, i do but the fusion package isn’t availible yet in livna *same here* fedora7test which packages should i install? but i can kind of stifle them VileGent
all the ones from the kagesenshi repo that you need.. plus heliodor
i mean for a basic test
compiz-core fusion-icon compiz-plugins compizconfig-python
it is updating my compiz okay done
did you disable the main fedora repo (to make sure you get the one from the kagesenshi repo)
where does Network Manager VPNC keep its configuration files? I want to see if I can manually add my information.
compiz-gnome ?
yeah, you may need that (dependency)
no i didn’t fedora7test but it showed kagesnshi only no it’s no depedency install it or not?
if it comes from kag - yes
it does okay, now trying to enable the effects, or starting fusion-icon?
just try fusion-icon from a terminal xazo - won’t they add from a .pcf?
http://rafb.net/p/StKBRI51.html
fusion-icon-gtk
okay, started, but panels and borders a disappeared again as it did before
that’s ok
(like 4 hours before)
right click on the fusion icon
can’t see it, because panels are disappeared
move your mouse over where panel lives normally
nothing happens
Fedora7test i used a pcf file. but the password is empty
shite.. open another terminal and killall gnome-panel
okay, there they are again, but fusion apported *abborted started it again panels are there
panels?
fedora7test. when i view the pcf , the password is encrypted. yet, when i run vpnc, the password field is blank and im stuck guessing what it is
yay
icon, too
rightclick.. select decorator heliodor
can onyl choose between emerald and GTK Windows Decorator
choose gtk one
done, but no borders there yet
restart wm or reload as the icon calls it
no change
what is grep command syntax to search files containing word “xyzvpn” ?
xazo - literally that.. grep foo
man grep
install emerald if its already installed choose a diff theme then reload again
no borders
what’s the terminal saying for fusion-icon?
executing…. compiz –replace …. do you need the exact line?
no not really.. just what does it mention of decorators
i dont understand network manager. i import my *.pcf file, yet when i run vpn, it doesnt have the password but password is in pcf file I imported.
When you plug in an external hdd, how can you find out its format?
question… what is with all the IDE devices being remapped as SCSI devices in FC7?
fdisk -l
doesn’t dmesg display it? Kazan otherwise fdisk
xazo - NetworkManager is still very much Beta quality..
cheers
new kernel uses libata by default
i’m asking why it was done
“specia device”
it seems to be causing problems with my DVD drive
‘cuz kernel developers want to pipe everything through SCSI subsystem these days
compiz –replace –sm-disable –ignore-desktop-hints ccp
your dvd drive would be scd0
since upgrading i can’t seem to play DVDs reliably, especially in xine, but mythtv’s internal player gripes sometimes indeed it is opsec.. but that wasn’t my question
it| Freel - could you select the sky emerald theme then reload ooh, got it.. open compizconfig
fedora7test still no borders one sec cmd not found
look’n'feel
what was the predecessor to libata?
hey guys
IE what was fc5 using
are all printers detected out of the box in linux?
monkee - nope
how old do they have to be?
one day… printer manufacturers are going to realize that they could design a standard USB printing interface
not a matter of age really.. of developer interest.. what you after connecting?
that would be a cold day in …..
im hooking up a hp deskjet 5550 just for temp printing
Kazan - lol if only
look’n'feel and THERE?
Compizconfig settings manager
besides network manager and openvpn, what other vpn clients are there for linux & using a PCF file to import?
yes got that
right, check to see whether window decorations plugin is checked then go into preferences go into plugin list
im logged into kde
it is
and i cant seem to find the system prefs
soz monkee - I’m talkin to itFreel
hi
im looking for the kcontrol panel or something
gtk-window-decorator –replace
why lol u cant multitask?
ifFreel - disable automatic plugin sorting & Monkee - not with this much alcohol in me no I thought you had crossed wires following my instructions for him just type kcontrol at term
did it fedora7test
are there good instructions on how to backup the computer before upgrading from fedora 6 to fedora 7?
right itFreel - make sure decoration is in the right panel and then reload
it is
then hopefully decorator should do its job *crosses fingers*
but doesn’t…
*sigh*
and i didn’t do any change there, because it was already checked correctly
alright thanks
already checked correctly? I asked you to disable aka uncheck it.. its default is checked monkee - there are other ways of doing it.. just not in KDE atm me not*
fedora7test the right panel is ‘active’ left one is ‘inactive’
active says at top
yes. and there it is and has been
monkee__, did you find the kdecontrol panel?
can you check that under profile & backend tab that integration checkbox is checked it|freel ^
afternoon err evening aTypical
fedora7test it is greyed out
well iT|Freel of course it is
Howdy, f_newton.
f7 is way out of the test phase hope yer doin well aTypical
ah, is your system using the flat file backend?
yes
mine is using gconf - install compizconfig-backend-gconf
oh duh lol fedora7test I just figured out what iT|Freel was saying. lmao
lol no worries
I’m mighty fine f_newton. Wife and I are just about to go pick up our daughter and head out for something to eat. How are things with you?
well my gf is asleep, and ive pigged out on cherry ice cream so all is well
Back in a bit.
done
ok, restart compizconfig.. select gconf backend, check integration, reload wm anyone else wiling to carry on helping out it|Freel.. I’m getting a bit tired now (GMT)
Im still getting used to the round about way of doing things that seems to be the hallmark of kde
done
any luck?
he’s trying to get what dual screens or nvidia 3D?
anyone know of a good .bin extractor for linux?
decorators on compiz fusion
tragically no .cue file came with it
Cheap tomcat 6 web hosting services.
lol ./ tw2113 ?
it|Freel - can ya try ctrl+alt+click-drag on desktop for me.. just to verify wm is running
fedora7test i am GMT +1
ah!
not working unless i’m doing it wrong
fedora7test isn’t working but didn’t work hole the time
so its about 3am for you
yes it is
Which compression format is best in terms of size?
and i have to get up again at 7
sounds like my usual day
but i don’t sleep much at all
can i have offline copy from forum with wget if i give the username and password ?
about 2 or 3 hours
it|freel.. decorators and wm itself are separate in compiz.. I’m sorta working my way round there is also no reason for the wm not to run
did you have to that much too, on your system?
oh, did you select compiz under select wm under fusion icon
yes
ok lets try some ‘manual handling’ .. y’know those lines from the terminal ‘compiz –replace –blah blah’ copy one of those to a new terminal don’t execute it
hello
close fusion-icon then run that command on the new term I need to see what compiz has to say anyone else wiling to carry on helping out it|Freel.. don’t wanna leave ya high and fry dry*
it says segmentation fault don’t worry fedora7test
HA! after all that
i can come 2morrow again you don’t need to help me RIGHT NOW
this is tru since compiz is segfaulting the only other is back to beryl
http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=2703 what’s the last (emerge) for fedora?
that’s gentoos compilation& install system
no such critter
ahh okay.. so we did it with yum
nahh, basically what he’s saying is he built latest compiz-fusion-backend-gconf and it magically works go back to flat file backend and try again with compiz VileGent?
what
is emerge not part of gentoo?
i didnt say that i was talking in fedora
no output
iT|Freel what’s the last (emerge) for fedora? fedora7test that’s gentoos compilation& install system VileGent no such critter
i was answering iT|Freel statement
but i don’t get back to the promt
k..
fedora7test, what channel are we in
seems as if it is working on s.th. but i don’t see anything
it is have the decorators got working?
VileGent i just asked, because the guy in that board had a similar error, and he could solve it with emerge …. no fedora7test
*sigh* I need fresh eyes to look at this problem
okay, then i’ll come back 2morrow and you get some rest thank you VERY much!
np
i don’t take that for granted should i take i586 or i686 packages on an AMD Athlon XP ?
iT|Freel, try i686
okay, i did so this isn’t the problem
I need to get back to my studies
do so, good look to you
If i have mounted a vfat partition at media/share shouldn’t it show up on my desktop? If not what do i do to make it work that way?
f_newton, who is she **ducks**
What kind of laptop do you have?
i don’t have any mine got stolen
Hello, I’m new to Fedora. I’m trying to compile a tar file. when I run ./configure, I get a message stating ‘configure: error: C++ preprocessor “/lib/cpp” fails sanity check’. any ideas?
so i’ll be out for 2day. thx to all of you see ya 2morrow
I was not aware that you could compile tar files? Can you?
walterwoj; right. i extracted the files from the tar ball to my desktop. then tried to run ./configure.. is that better?
Yes, but after that i can’t help you. I am also new to linux. Sorry….
sigh, kinda quiet in here..
I know, must be all the smart people went to bed….
heh, I guess so
geez
Oh, I guess not, VileGent is smart ( if rather quiet the evening )….
does anyone know why when enabling desktop effects I lose my window borders…been working on this for a long time…still can’t get them to show up…
FC6 or F7? I don’t know why it happens BTW
FC7
F7
er, yes
I assume you are fully updated what graphics card driver are you using?
i run kde and i made a script with “gtk-window-decorator –replace &” in it and put it in .kde/Autostart it works for me
I’m using Nvidia…one sec I’ll grep the rpm
Dave here!
Not important, what DE are you using? GNOME or KDE?
EvilBob:GNOME
is it safe to disable services firstboot and fedora-live
OK Now lets restate your question
Alright.
“I am using the nvidia driver and gnome. does anyone know why when enabling desktop effects I lose my window borders…been working on this for a long time…still can’t get them to show up… “
yes, I follow you. more well put.
see if you would have said it that way I could have just ignored you… LOL
lol…great.
at least you can use the effects, I can’t, I am stuck using the vesa driver because of a bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=251087
yeah…but not having window borders is a real pain.
Yeah having no X is much better… LOL
Hello, first off I want to say a huge congrats to everyone involved that’s worked on wireless drivers and support in Fedora 7. It’s really getting there and it’s super exciting! a giant thank you as well
I blame linville, but he is not here
that’s the best time to blame people
you have no X at all?
not if I try to use the nv or any of the nVidia (crap) closed source drivers
I’ve been messing around with bcm43-fwcutter and between that and the network manager it’s to the point that most people can use it easily, very very cool
Adam Jackson our Xorg guy is shocked that I have video at all because of that bug
dave_mwi, disable beryl etc
I don’t have beryl running that I know of
but is it installed
VileGent you know anything about setting up dynamic ips on linux?
i have had that happen but as soon as i have started beryl manager walterwoj, on the dhcp server or the client my borders came back
I do have a question, I’ve been in Windows to verify that everything is running correctly. Network Manager sees both the eth0 and the wlan0, sees all the wireless networks around, but balks at actually connecting it tries to connect but sits and spins and eventually fails is there a way to troubleshoot what’s actually happening?
iwscan etc
Hello all… was looking for some help with my video capture device. The driver says I need fxload… anybody familiar with it?
I don’t see the utility installed
vilegent, yep, it sees everything sees everything about them, too… just doesn’t connect
On the client. I was thinking of using afraid.org to point to my laptop and use set up a dnserver on it so i can do subdomains on my testing server ( on the laptop )
would you be willing to teach pcapazzi what I taught you?
fxload looks like it needs hotplug also… they both look like they’re old (2004)…
walterwoj, i think someone is confused
i don’t see either in the package manager
hotplug died long ago.
oh… would you know how I can get fxload installed?
Nope.
Ok what version of fedora are you using? What chipset does your capture device have? What crappy howto are you using? Are you fully updated?
Only semanticaly. Maybe i am talking about the server but you get the idea of what i want to do right?
walterwoj, are you just trying to create a home network?
FC 7 - 2.6.22.4-65 … Plextor px-tv402u is the product… Micronas GO7007 is the chipset… all upates from fc7 are in is the driver page http://oss.wischip.com/
No i am trying to make my testing server publicaly available so i do not need to maintain a seperate testing server that costs a lot of money. I just want to beable to access the files on my laoptop through my dynamic ip. I would like it to be fully functional so i can create subdomains to keep things neater…..
how are you going to access them? SSH, FTP, HTTP…
The driver page said it was updated last for kernel v 2.6.16 when I run make… it says I need fxload in there…
and, if I’m going about this the wrong way please step in and say so, my knowledge of linux and networking gets me by but I’m hardly an expert
you might check out http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php#capture see if your device is mentioned
walterwoj, second ethernet card iptables and dhcpd
I plan to access it only by http ( but on an alternate port ).
Vilegent knows his stuff, what he said
https
I don’t see anything about fxload or hotplug in that package…
httpd rather
ok… thanks
I have httpd running but a second network card is out of the question as this is a laptop.
heh do you have a gateway machine?!
walterwoj, on the server not the laptop walterwoj, sounds to me you nm **walks away**
heh
walterwoj, what does a laptop have to do with it? walterwoj, there is USB and PCMCIA
I must not be explaining it properly, sorry….
crap… i take it there is no way to configure NetworkManager to send the client hostname back to the dhcp server
what are you using as a router walterwoj?
I have a laptop with FC7 on it ( i’m using it now ). I do web development on this machine and have a web server running. I want this server to be accessable outside my local network. My ISP blocks port 80 and has dynamic ips.
oh, ok well, forget about the external network stuff for now
lol
Huh? Why? Thats the whole point…
yeah FORGET ABOUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE STORY… LOL oops
It already works on my local network…
walterwoj, how do you get your ip address not w
?
anyone wanna play “he yummed his kernel now has dependency mess” with me?
so, basically all you need to do on the server is to get httpd listening on whichever port you want… then have the router forward it there
Close
are for the dynamic ip address host you just need something like dyndns *and
Tall-guy, uname -r
I need to set up a deamon compatible with a dyn-ip service to point at this machine. The router never enters into the equation ( I have done this on wondows but not linux web hosting ) .
2.6.22.4-45.fc6
walterwoj, if you use zoneedit, you can easily run wget to set your IP. They have info on it there bwalterwoj, if you use zoneedit, you can easily run wget to set your IP. They have info on it there/b
yeah, that part is pretty easy Much easier than trying to deal with httpd.conf in my opinion, heh
URL: http://rafb.net/p/eVjfh357.html
walterwoj, you can also simply direct port 81 or something on the router to port 80 on your pc. then just connect to your outside ip:81
Tall-guy: atRPMs is BAD news Tall-guy: atRPMs is a virus Tall-guy: you will want to get rid of atRPMs Tall-guy: you have been playing the yum upgrade game
Tall-guy, reinstall
Tall-guy: BTW, you lost
why is atrpms bad??? I don’t buy the “virus” thing. atrpms was thrown in there for a myth upgrade (the intent of my upgrade)
but atrpms replaces core files
Tall-guy: Fine, email Axel for support
therefore you are not running anymore
ease up there bob….BAD I will buy “VIRUS” I won’t
Tall-guy: http://lists.atrpms.net/mailman/listinfo/atrpms-users
Tall-guy, alot of us do
Tall-guy: that is the ONLY place to get support for atRPMsdora
http://www.dyndns.com/ They’ve got lots of options for clients
Virus? whats that
a lot of you do what?
Tall-guy: you are no longer running Fedora
Tall-guy, ok not a virus so its a rootkit that
what does ATrpms provide?
Pain and suffering
haha.. i mean before?
it violates the Geneva convention
mythtv basicly
Cruel and unusual punishment
Tall-Guy: I’m no guru but i have learned to trust these guys when they tell me something…
why would they have a repository soley for MythTV?
that is the problem
tallguy, if you want a simple install check out linuxmce, you install, boom, it’s done
but enableing it for a yum update is causes major problems
if you want a workstation or a gateway or anything else… stick with Fedora, heh
they also replace base fedora files what we used to call Core
oooh, don’t be getting me into a “who’s pvr is better” discussion….I started this because my Zap2it is dying
EvilBob, fix the problem by packaging it for Livna or Freshrpms
I’m not, Mythtv is the worst install ever
im thinking about packaging something
happens every damn time on linux “Simple upgrade”…..sshhhheeay mybutt!
xpaint I so want that
no one but Axel is insane enough to package mythtv
EvilBob, why is MythTV insane to package?
read the spec file
Tall-guy, fedora has never said easy upgrade when 3rd party repos are involved
tall-guy, I can say this for Linuxmce, it’s a two or three key press install and it gets hardware
no one promised me anything, it was more of a rhetorical rant
and yum upgrades have never been supported
it’s not worth the time to try to get mythtv installed :p
Tall-guy: yum remove sane-backends-libs-1.0.18-15.fc6 Tall-guy: yum update sane-backends-libs sane-backends
EvilBob, oh pretty fancy… is it like LinuxMCE?
in a lot of ways
thanx for the useable advice
I like mythTV, have not run mce yet
Xaero_Vincent, LinuxMCE packages Mythtv
evilbob :
maybe the MythTV guys can help the LinuxMCE interface designers hah
that problem is fixed
Tall-guy: that should give you a start at solving the deps problems you should see
I’m back.
Error: xorg-x11-drv-i810 conflicts with kudzu 1.2.42-1
Tall-guy: rpm -q each of those Tall-guy: paste the output to rafb.net/paste
http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Main_Page#Software_Used_by_LinuxMCE
Tall-guy: the first time I see a package with the .at in the name I am done
http://rafb.net/p/lLB8N483.html hehehe, understand
it’s slick for a pvr, they modify *so* much of the core to get it to work that I wouldn’t know where to start to modify anything on it, also, documentation is nonexistant :p
mythtv rocks in my humble opinion….been using it for over 2 years…..its just a B*TCH to update/upgrade
Tall-guy: yum remove kudzu-1.2.34.5-1 Tall-guy: if it wants to remove deps say no
tall-guy: Then use Mythtv :p www.linuxmce.com
I shall mythfrontend on xbox is pretty slick 2
I think LinuxMCE will be cool when they get the interface decent looking right now its too cluttered and unpolished
Tall-guy: let me know how things progress
yep
4 sure dude
Tall-guy: DO NOT CALL ME DUDE
heh the bane of open-source software: Poor intuitive GUI’s :p
I like freevo and fedora on my xbox
dudette?
ut oh
linucnce looks good if you want to run kbuntu
Tall-guy: I am not a sappy dresser nor am I a poser
sorry, my 9 year old keeps me from saying “Groovy” 2 much
lol called him dude
Tall-guy: I doubt very much that you are a stoner/surfer from the 80’s
born in 67 fella
but what about us stoner surfers from the 60’s?
got Kiss on 8 track, had velour collar shirt, and rode a plywood halfpipe
lol… by then I was sucking wadi mud
(yum is happier now)
Tall-guy: good luck
now Im sucking farina sigh
f_newton better than metamucil
well I like cream of wheat
cream of wheat is the best
mmm,….with brown sugar
and that’s *not* a sign of age
yep even the lumpy bits
those are the best part!
e4 it is when thats all the old fart can eat
lmao VileGent who told you?
lol
pfft, it’s cool in the college crowd as well VileGent
e4 i am about f_newton age but i work at a college
well me n EvilBob are roughly the same age I think.
so you know it’s hip and happening to wake up to a nice hot bowl of it in the morning Vilegent
127
if’n I recollect right yeppers just about the same cept he’s a tad young
“recollect” makes him over 20 for sure
yep he is a youngun EvilBob, and Sonar_Gal are close to the same age
yes but I have reproduced several times since 1986
oh then he is a youngster tsk
i was the answer to life, universe, and everything last year
n I thought he’d dropped the fuzz of his antlers
Oct 27 my oldeast will be 21…
ok Evilbob….I’ve got a slew of these messages - with different locales: file /usr/share/locale/af/LC_MESSAGES/firstboot.mo from install of firstboot-1.4.23-1 conflicts with file from package firstboot-tui-1.4.6-1
yeah I got a grandkid approaching that age…
Tall-guy: yum remove firstboot
when your baby has a baby.. then you are getting old
Tall-guy: yum remove firstboot\*
I think my oldest grandkid is 12
(What the heck is that prog anyhoo?)
Tall-guy: the post install config tool
Alright, I am installing Fedora Core 7 from a DVD right now onto a crappy x86 computer. Do I need to do anything special to make SSH work or does it just *work* out of the box?
works outta the box
Tall-guy: worthless after the first reboot 99.999% of the time
sounds like me
Thanks. When I selected packages to be installed during the install process, are they from the DVD or downloaded?
dvd
Oh, do I’ll need to yum update, then?
yes
depends if you are doing a network install or dvd install
Alright, I am installing Fedora Core 7 from a DVD
well you could always set up the updates repo in anaconds
evilbobupdating……)
yes you still need to yum update
Is Fedora known to be good at being a web server? I’m going to be mostly using it for development and perhaps some light file/web hosting. It’s an incredibly old and slow machine (1.4ghz P4, 128mb RAM, etc.)
Fedora is Linux it has several httpd servers available
My workstation at home (F7) happily runs an Apache testbed server for my hobbyist web-development stuff. PHP/MySQL/etc - all the good stuff.
Oh hey codergeek42
including the legendary Apache httpd
needs a few less resources than iis on 2003
Yeah, I know. I was just asking whether it had any flaws as a distribution for the purpose I am using it for.
because of Fedora’s short life span it is generally not suggested for “production”
good advice there
not that it is not capable, just a pain in the @$$ for most administrators
Explain.
Though it would work nicely for production servers, if you don’t want to have the potential hassle of upgrading every year or so, something like RHEL or a free derivative thereof (CentOS, et al.) would probably be more useful.
well heck some people like spending their time over a keyboard and crt instead of elsewhere
Fedora only lasts 13 months, an EL like CentOS… 7 glorious years
glorious years
How does it last only 13 months?
because its a testbed os
because at that point it stops getting security and feature updates
basically
self destructs in a smoking tape recorder a-la mission impossible
I see. In that case, for my production machine I shall need to use something else.
this mission should you decide to accept it…
Generally, each Fedora release is supported until the Test2 of two releases after, which means at a release cycle length of anywhere from 6-9 months, is just over a year in most cases.
nzk it is no longer supported after 13 months codergeek42, no longer
Do you guys have any sort of recommendations for a good distro for a serious production machine?
Hmm?
it is 2 releases + 1 month
a server doesnt really need bleeding edge technology. It is best to have a stable secure environment for that
Ah. Excellent. Thanks!
CentOS or RHEL
Is RHEL free?
no
nzk rhel is great if you can afford it… obviously the best choice, centOS or scientific linux would be the main freebies
my yum is yummie!!!
What’s so good about RHEL?
No, but CentOS is. It’s basically the RHEL source rpms rebuilt without the trademarked artwork and whatnot.
Ahh, I see.
the best support in the Linux business
How long is CentOS supported for?
the most widely used linux commercial product the best support the best stability
It’s community-supported as Fedora is, so the support is not “official” and paid-for like RHEL’s is; but they tend to support it for about as long as the standard RHEL cycle and time/energy permit.
I see.
lets not forget the high quality IT personel rhel attracts oh we’ve moved on?
eh?
nzk rhel is the best choice for a log of very good reasons, but budgets as they are centos would be a pretty good substitute uh s/log/lot
Woah, RHEL comes with AMP pre-installed 0.0 How much is RHEL?
heh…. contact the sales dept
Holy jesus, it’s *that* expensive?
nzk, https://www.redhat.com/wapps/store/catalog.html;jsessionid=Z71z1JDXylOjcXnOiCxh1bQwMSuBOmNHUjb.www01
thanx for all your help….on to bigger fish!
I was almost thinking it’s price in dollars wouldn’t fit into a 64 bit integer so they didn’t bother
350$ ain’t so bad.
nzk… yeah.. use Fedora unless you need commercial support cuz thats what ur paying for with RHEL
Yeah, I thought so. I don’t really need commercial support, I’m not running a render farm or anything, just one server/
nzk, good luck getting a copy of XP and server support from MS for that much :p heck any kind of tech support from ‘em
You mean 2k3?
Xaero_Vincent, thats not quite correct
any MS OS :p
f_newton, OK.. RHEL has long term support as well I guess Fedora is more bleeding edge and has the latest FOSS technologies
a much longer life span, a super stable core, years of commercial success
you saying Fedora isnt stable?
Is the CompTia Linux+ test like “What’s the name of the file that will discard everything” or like “How many joules of magnetic energy do you need to switch memory register 9×93321 to 1 (remember to account for magnetic flux and gravitational anomilies”
ha, not the day it comes out
lol Xaero_Vincent what cave did you crawl out of?
heh… well Fedora has been rock solid for me but I do keep myself updated
fedora is a great os but on the server side you need something that lasts a little longer and has a more stable update system
http://www.0xdeadbeef.com/weblog/?p=302 wewt night
i guess it depends on the kind of server… if its a mission-critical HTTP or w/e type of server that serves millions of internet viewers then I would agree Fedora is fine for personal server needs… or in my case just a desktop
crap the buttheads on my intranet are maxing out the bandwidth again
We only use RHEL on servers. Normally just to get the platinum support. But they are all mostly Oracle, so the price of rh support is minimal compared to oracle
i’ve actually never used Linux as a server… though I’m thinking about a Samba or FTP server so I can share stuff between my Windows laptop NFS just doesnt work good… there really arent any free NFS clients for windows
so go hand them a new ***hole
Xaero_Vincent, servers need a life cycle longer then fedora has. Simply put its a lot of trouble to be constantly rebuilding the server apps because your os goes dead LyosNorezel, the IT dept is in Virginia and they promise they are going to evict these jerkoids because they are basically spam farms
heh
they wait until everyone goes home for the day then they start cramming the routers with their crap
figures
Ive got logs of those suckers and I have filed a complaint but since I am only a subscriber I have no say.
f_newton, well Fedora just stops getting updates… you can still continue to use what you have as a server… Fedora, like Red-Hat has allot of built-in security features that can help keep you safer (even with outdated packages) than with most other distros
Xaero_Vincent, if you dont keep up with security updates you are standing out in a blizzard in your underwear
beh… Fedora doesn’t have have things like SELinux, Exec-Shield, ELFDH, FortifySource, PE, NX, etc because they dont do anything
security is an uphill battle for servers lol when they’re out of date they’re useless like this discussion. its all kewl though
haha. I still have fedora 1 servers going
connected to the wild?
ha, nah. they’re on a private network
Intranet? f_newton, well… maybe.. but your still allot more better off than say an outdated distro with no additional security implementations which accounts for about 90% of distros
Xaero_Vincent, thats what im trying to tell you after 13 months you end up with an outdated os with no security updates even microsoft covers their os offerings for 10 yrs or so
f_newton, the security tools are in place to prevent certain types of security holes from affecting users… its like a shield, just not always perfect i wont disagree that security updates are important
Xaero_Vincent, well in the real world security threats are a very big challenge and constant attention and updating is a requirement the point is Xaero_Vincent the best bet for a stable server in a non commercial environment would probably be centOS or scientific linux. The best for critical commercial endeavors would be rhel hands down the area I live in Xaero_Vincent has a lot of unix an linux server groups using windows desktops I like using fedora for the desktops because I can offer a much more attractive package to the business
well.. again.. a server is very broad.. a server can be for personal use (like serving files) on a private LAN at home that is the only server context that would be relavent for me
well when I think server I think a little bigger then that
yeah… i figured that much. I suppose you have a point for mission critical servers that demand 99% uptime… Fedora as a server will likely give you higher downtimes because of the constant updates and the possible need to upgrade to a newer release that isnt necessarly a stability issue, however dead silence
too much poker action on my end
we were waiting for you to come back
is that so ok… is system-config-samba broken or something? it doesnt behave… like save my share configuration or anything
dunno, but there’s always swat
whats that do? same thing?
no muxh more yum install samba-swat && chkconfig swat on http://127.0.0.1:901
ok, so how do I downgrade to a slightly earlier kernel? (fc6)
opsec, ok I’ll check it out
u still around.
Nope still a square
Tall-guy, by selecting the old kernel in yum
badaboom
unless you mean install a kernel from a previous release
well, here’s the scenario I moved from fc5 to fc6…..and got the latest kernel…which is “too new” for some of my other needs…. so I need an “almost latest” …
you should be able to select 2.6.18 in FC6. i think that was the stock kernel
this was just fc5 earlier…so its not there (swearing at my own stupidity tonite)
Tall-guy: what capture cards are you using?
ivtv I’ve got 2.6.22.4-45.fc6, I want 2.6.22.2-42.fc6
yeah ivtv is in the kernel now
Tall-guy, why would that make a difference?
*blink* huh wha?
that a bug fix update
I need ivtv-kmdl
no you don’t
its in there?
Tall-guy: upgrade to F7, and get ivtv-firmware
rcommended path for f6 to f7 upgrade? yum?
Tall-guy: I have two PVR-500s and three PVR-150s Tall-guy: use the anaconda installer from the install media
i got a 350/150 setup here
Tall-guy: that is the ONLY recommended upgrade method
heavy sigh…… my cd-less….headless pvr really doesn’t lend itself well to this path at the moment
Tall-guy: so do a PXE boot tot he installer image
did I mention all I wanted to do was upgrade myth?
http://fedorasolved.org/installation-solutions/installing-fedora-using-pxe-images/ lol
Tall-guy, i don’t understand, what is the root problem? Tall-guy, F7 with latest myth, works fine
do you want the long sordid story?
Tall-guy, kinda, i’m bored i tried scrolling up… got bored with that
well, I had my myth running on fc5 for last year or so…..nice n stable…doing everything I wantede “zap2it” listings are dying in a week, so in order to use new listings, I needed to upgrade to latest myth no problem right?
Tall-guy, ahh Tall-guy, i see
Tall-guy, there in lies the problem of not staying up to date
anyhoo, I’ve ended up with a fc6 kernel, … all is working…EXCEPT ivtv which is kinda important
Tall-guy, i see
and i’m running out of rum.
Tall-guy, i take it you did a yum update to move to FC6 Tall-guy, what model/brand tv cards?
yup….I got all yummied up….evilbob helped fix that 350 and 150 haupp
Tall-guy, i see Tall-guy, i think it would have been quicker to pull the box, stick a monitor on it, install F7, and put it back away
without a doubt it would have but I was counting on “yum update myth” being the solution too.
Tall-guy, yah well, FC5 is EOL
oh, I’m not blamin anyone but me…..
so anybody notice gnome error when using freenx client from remote?
I don’t mind eol….I’d run it all on my timex sinclair if I could
Tall-guy, haha Tall-guy, well, just as an FYI… got two hauppauges working perfectly in F7
have you seen mythdora? I’m thinking of wimping out.
Tall-guy, i’ve heard of it, but i don’t have a dedicated myth box, i use my desktop
ah….
Tall-guy, i switched to the paid services this week myself
Tall-guy: mythdora is the way to go
Tall-guy, hope the price comes down soon EvilBob, does it have the .20 version?
see, I got my lirc all the way I like it….I got some vids I wanna keep…..didn’t want to have to move stuff all around ya know u running it? I got my buddies box here with an MCE 500 dual on it…pondering trying mythdora on his first….see if it works
Tall-guy, cool, fair excuse Tall-guy, you migth want to backup /etc now, just in case
Idunno. Jarod Wilson is working for Red Hat Doing some kernel hacking not sure how much time he is putting in to mythdora
I might ghost the whole darn thing…
EvilBob, cool EvilBob, i get mine from the ATRPMs guys… by time i wanted to make the switch, they had it ready, can’t ask for more thanthat Tall-guy, more and more tv doesn’t seem worth the effort though
i don’t want more and more…I just gotta get “coronation street” recorded by Sunday or my wife’ll kill me. krikey…..I didn’t even know they wanted a nominal fee for the Schedules now I’m bummed
Tall-guy, yah…. well, they don’t _want_ it Tall-guy, it’s at the point where they simply don’t have a choice
http://localhost:901/ Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:901.
Xaero_Vincent, that link doesn’t work for me
I understand the business case, I just don’t like it. pooh….
pembo13_com… i guess that port is for Swat or something… I thought Samba was port 139 tho beh I’ll read the man page later
Tall-guy, niether do i, i paid mostly to show my support Tall-guy, the fact that anyone has to pay to consume this kinda data is sad
true it is…. dang….now I’ve lost motivation
Tall-guy, such is life
lol
Tall-guy, pop open a Heiniken and call it a night
there’s a thought….
isnt a beer a day supposed to be good for you?
dark rum on ice….
haha
maybe I’ll concentrate on my asterisk stuff …..just gotta pay “the man” for pstn
Tall-guy: trixbox
yeah, it has its place i’ve been *’ing for quite some time. (and my dialplan still blows)
I have a trouble using my 6in1 + FDD . It doesn’t write data to the diskette. If it writes, it’s too slow.
yeah FDD are legendary for their speed
hahahhaa
