daMaestro, why?
I need to supply boot sector info etc. too I’ve done lots of “dummy” burns with cdreocrd. I just need one to reproduce the boot DVD for rawhide
yeah, i mean, that’s the real way, but when you have more than a dozen servers all running different stuff, and i mean different
daMaestro, a good server map and a maint schedule
f_newton, so you only have one machine that you even have to think about (you virtualize all the “flavors” of your servers.. and test virtualized) .. so then when you have updates and new packages.. you can just push them out and not think twice
oh, are you making your own image? or you have the image and just need to burn to dvd?
Kobaz, yes. i understand.
centos 4.2, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0, debian 3, debian 3.2, redhat enterprise, fedora core 5, core 6 you name it, we had it
i have a problem that I have been battling with all day
I’ve done an rsync - nothing changed. I just have the files, need to make the ISO to burn
Kobaz, every single rhel based distro would be easy to manage, and i’m sure the good debian devs have figured similar ways
daMaestro, really only the server that sees the outside world needs any serious updates until major os changes are required. If it works dont (*#^&*) with it
Kobaz, That’s a good example of doing it the wrong way. I guess you knew that already.
mkfsiso or sometihng like that.
f_newton, i don’t manage my systems that way (and i’ve had to battle upper management for that exact reason)
yeah, heh, i am fully aware of the wrongness
daMaestro, well I can understand that man hours are costly
might look at revisor… it’s not as simple to make a bootable dvd as dropping all the packages in an image. You need to have the installer, etc
equipment is costly
cool, will do. thx
f_newton, yup. and that is why you have an inhouse auto tested tree based on what upstream feeds you
is there a channel that can walk me through doing the firmware for the b43
;-D
or just download the iso.
Aaron_fedora7, http://fedoramobile.org has info
lol Aaron_fedora7 the bcm43xx? lmao
i’ve never gotten bcm43xx to work right
well, no mirror seemed to have the ISO and be able to download the image within 2-3 hours
i’ll give it another shot with f8
rawhide live CD
daMaestro, depending on what you use your servers for, changing and updating when not necessary only increases the risk of downtime
rawhide/devel? sometimes there are issues where it doesn’t produce install media. the livecd? you can get it via torrent.fedoraproject.org
f_newton, ahh the joys of server pooling
We’re (the user group) are going to do some experiments tomorrow so I just needed the latest Nope - nothing responded with more than 7kbps So I sorta gave up on that one
yes that piece of crap
I took the direct route and rsync’ed from a mirror
f_newton, even if it’s a single machine with dual virtual guests… you can then bounce each guest separately for new kernels
Aaron_fedora7, good luck I fixed mine by replacing it with an intel
But I got the files, not the ISOs - couldn’t find the iso’s
f_newton, granted.. there will still be host kernel updates that need to bounce the host.. but then you just do live migration to your backup server
virtual shmirtual….
f_newton, mwhwhwwhwhwh
daMaestro, three floors of cubicles as-400 1500 wifi handhelds and very sensitive records
f_newton, cool.. where is the case study?
assuming you run fedora
not a case study… small medical school there are many case studies being conducted no they dont run fedora daMaestro Unix
ah, cool
Mr. Newton lol
f_newton, i mean’t if you were using fedora on that many mobile devices.. you should write a case study
cyrix, and windows lol daMaestro there is a contract with cisco
read that page earlier, so heres where Im stuck I need to find version for for the firmware I did the fwcutter and that was the output I got yum will only get 006-1.fc7 i need 004-1.fc7
Ehh, revision looks cool, but my burner is attached to a CentOS box hehe
Aaron_fedora7, broadcom 4311 sux period… get either a usb stick that works or change your mini pci e card
Aaron_fedora7, lscpi|grep -i bcm
thats not an option at the time
Aaron_fedora7, you can get that from the win exe on the broadcom site and extract it after you download it
I got the wrapper to work with 2.6.21 75
time to nuke some crappy frozen food
but now that 2.6.21 85 is out it wont work i did i used the driver from the manufacturer of my computer
During bootup is the screen supposed to flash continually?
No.
Any idea what would cause that?
mine does but its adjusting the resolution and what not
I think that’s what mine it doing, or trying to do but it happens several times it even happens right after I login
Hey all. Doing my first file transfer over ssh. Do SSH file transfers have a speed limit? I am not doing better than 1MB/sec right now.
try cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/rhgb/ then reboot
Depends on your cipher and compression. Although they make it CPU-bound, not create a limit per se.
Gosh, I just made a connection on the desktop using the connect to server setup that comes on gnome. I have no idea what cipher or compression.
But what if I’m not using rhgb?
man ssh_config
Thank you.
im going to make a video on my phone and show you what’s happening
maybe my raman is ready …
damn phone and 15 second record limit…. GRRRR
f_newton - The american junk or the asian imports?
jalapeno shin cup is perty good djs_2_6, run ‘vmstat 1′ while doing the xfer. check cpu usage. also, 1MB/s is near 10mbit, which might indicate something else.
ok that ticks me off. stupid ass razor. my old phone could record more video than this
speaking of package management .. take a look at the “ingredients” of your “food” what a way to package manage your body system synthetic “source code” install
Luke_S, its most likely limited by the phone company.
djs_2_6, the american stuff or the stuff with toxic chemicals and lead in it?
lmao
a properly package managed system is healthy .. whether human, computer, nature itself or otherwise
true
how do you transfer files from motorola razor phone to fedora?
I eat the asian stuff, and it is good, but you cannot use all of the seasonings that come with it.
you know what… I’ll use my mac book. why didn’t I think of that sooner…
i heart toxic chemicals in my “food” .. i.e. the stuff i eat that fuels my thoughts and organic body system mmm .. doritos chemical “cheese” spray ..
20 yrs ago china donated 300 metric tons of crayons to u.s. daycare centers as a gesture of good will….. turned out the crayons tested positive for lead….. what does a small child do with a crayon?
zcat, only real change is bi goes from ~0 to up to 768. Cpu peaks at 30%. What else would I be looking for?
djs_2_6, dont eat stuff from asia
djs_2_6, cpu/io/netbandwidth on both ends.
coal oil in the dog food, anti freeze in the toothpaste, let in the preschooler toys
i love the periodic table of elements .. you got something against elements or physics?
zcat - gotcha. Looking for resource overloads…
opsec chomp down on a nice bowl of strontium 90
jalapeno doritos. the best process food you can buy. MMMMM. i gotta find that in bulk. bjalapeno doritos. the best process food you can buy. MMMMM. i gotta find that in bulk./b
maybe no one knows
it would be nice for someone to say that
with a usb cable from the phone to the computer anhimgr8
i have a razor .. i hooked it up once .. ran lspci .. unplugged it and never cared any further it has some firewire cable .. mine does but i have a treo now anyway
anhimgr8, also try bluetooth
how would I try bluetooth?
the treo has a dual purpose for the single minded professional
one of f_newton’s toxic blue crayons
activate the bluetooth options in both fedora and your phone
Is there a good troubleshooting guide for installing Fedora 7? I select the option to install and it runs throuhg some install but then just starts endlessly cycling text on the screen
how do I scan for devices in fedora?
OK I have a video of what’s happening
i got an unlocked unbranded palm for traveling .. slip in a new sim chip and go
just have to remove the audio to make it smaller..
lol
and because palm linux os will be released soon i wish ff had a pda version though
Why is it bigger… damnit
? Hey, I have a problem with my internet again… it’s working, but every time I run update my internet shuts down and update freezes
blazer is ok .. but opera mobile is just crap
Do you see the Bluetooth applet in your notification area?
opsec, my mobile comm device is what Im using now and it comes with everything I need including a 17″widescreen
i have a laptop as well
I know you do
the phone net is merely a novely
I understand
novelty .. not for practical use
i travel light
yes and the tooltip (or whatever) says Bluetooth Manager
hey wait, my tater tots r d one
! Can someone help me? I have a problem…
Okay, go to the preferences and make your system discoverable.
! Err… can you hear me?
Nope.
! Sigh… well I have a problem with my updater
http://cywh.com/boot.mp4 Is this normal? ( I dont think it is )
there is only one preference in the manager: show icon or not
Sounds like you have a problem with your NIC and/or netowrk hardware and/or connection. Is this FC6?
yes
Ah, that’s why. Bluetooth support is *much* better under F7.
Why is the stuff I say grey?
because your ability to affect it is not
because it is? you’re using xchat or something similar?
quick question: when I upgrade to 7, does it remove my files? Do I have to backup and then restore them?
when its greyed out that means the option is not available
I’m using ex-chat errr x-chat
Not if you don’t tell the installer to format the partitions.
Anyway… screen keeps flashing on boot… This is exactly what’s happening: http://cywh.com/boot.mp4 … what the heck is causing it to do this?
Of course, you only want to do an upgrade if you’re not formatting. And you’re better off backing up regardless.
But anyway, my question is, why does the updater freeze up my network and cause me to have to unplug and replug in device to start it back up? Everything else works, including this
Because you have a problem with your NIC and/or netowrk hardware and/or connection.
usb wifi device Mordacai ?
Yeah
yep
What’s an NIC?
network interface card
Ah Well, it works with firefox fine And I can download stuff
I would probably backup anyway, but is there an option on the install disc to just upgrade without wiping files?
Mordacai, my wifi dongle did that too
There is.
*sigh* anyway to fix it? I kind’ve have to use the USB device
I cured it by installing an intel pro wireless mini pci e card
thanks!
Mordacai, not sure it did it on the windows machine too
Sure thing.
just wondering, how do you do what ivazquez just did? Not wander off, but say you do, in that way
you type /me does whatever such as lol kids
Oh, interesting conversation topic… i just totaled my car, and kids wouldn’t kno what wtf means… or shouldn’t
What do you mean by the network freezes? Is it the app you’re referring to?
Mordacai, I would try asking every now and then because you may run across an expert here, also try googling your particular belkin G issue to see if there has been a consensus and possible solution
Well, the updater freezes, and if i try to use the internet afterward, it doesn’t work until I unplug and replug the usb
yep
Is there a good troubleshooting guide for installing Fedora 7? I select the option to install and it runs throuhg some install but then just starts endlessly cycling text on the screen
been there got really tired of that
yeah… well I will fix it… hopefully
directrevolt, describe endlessly good luck Mordacai shalom, sukkot
Well, if no one knows anything that will fix it, that’s on right now, then I’ll check the internet for now
smart move been there too Luke_S I know the way by heart
[C##############] and then more text here but it goes so fast I can’t make it out.
directrevolt, it does that initially but should stop soon… and proceed to the next step
how long do you think? and what is it doing? it’s been at it over 15 minutes f_newton
oh well thats way too long try fedorafaq or the fedora site for installation notes do you have a stuck key directrevolt ?
not that I am aware of… I’ve looked on the fedora site and didn’t see anything to help me.
see if there is anything on fedorasolved hmmm
Luke_S, and when did it start happening? you haven’t bitched about it before, so what changed?
checking
okay im off wish me luck
if you make yourself a sheep.. don’t complain when the wolves eat you.
if I make myself a sheep I stash an s&w .40 in my shorts
so you’re just an armed sheep that becomes disarmed and eaten
lol no but I do suffer through a lot of wolf brand chili blol no but I do suffer through a lot of wolf brand chili/b
Ok, i’m going to post in the official fedora forums… but can someone walk me through setting up Evolution to use my Gmail account? I don’t know what some of the options mean…
keep some air freshener handy gmail has instructions
Mordacai, pop.gmail.com ssl 995 smtp.gmail.com tls 587
pop and forwarding
lol opsec no kidding… the fabreeze just aint cutting it! but I gotz enough shag carpet for the ol sheep van
Ok, doesn’t have evolution on the list of configuration help, which one is closest to evolution?
Mordacai, yum install thunderbird lol evo is devo
you don’t want evolution anyway, it’s garbage but the settings are there
its definitely not as versatile
all you really need is the info f_newton already gave you it’s not rocket science
coupled with the pop forwarding info that opsec provided
ok, i’m on the smtp part… which authentication? It has plain etc
lol tls tls and port 587
right… but taht’s under security, and it doesn’t ask for port
Mordacai, install thunderbird
no one i know here uses evolution to the best of my knowledge
ok, I’ll try using yum… but it might freeze me, so I might have to do it manually
evolution is kind of difficult to understand when yer green
either tb or claws-mail
ahhh Mordacai dont you have a wired connection as well?
nope
oh crud
I do if I move my computer across the house, but that’s a huge pain (have two computers, one mine, one not)
lol Mordacai learn how to make your own ethernet cables and run a long sucka just for updating
I pbably will sometime, but yum seems to work for install, just not update
oh Mordacai try changing your wireless router tx channel to 3 or 4
err.. sorry, newb here, what is tx channel?(I JUST got high speed… had dial up forever)
ahh you are using a combination modem/router from your provider arent you?
Yeah, the ethenet goes into the router, one computer is wired straight from that, mine is using the USB And i’m downloading thunderbird as we speak… it’s half way thru
good
Good thing about whatever yum does… it makes my internet keep “bursting” like it does for web pages… i get 150 Kbs burst, only 60 Kbs on long downloads
thats not yum but it could be the server load what service provider do you have? hmmm looks like cable
You probly haven’t heard of it, it’s local, called TA Highspeed, uses Microwave Attennas… lol, i’m serious It REALLY does
Ive done a lot of microwave comm work Mordacai … I do believe you thats the problem
cool, most people don’t
att tested a system like that in one of our rural communities… it sukd
This one is actually pretty good… only time i’ve seen it go out was when we had a HUGE ice storm that froze everything… including the attenas
well then they didnt have the antenna inside a shield
they use huge towers, like cell phone ones
yes I know…. called repeater towers hows your thunderbird coming Mordacai ?
It work perfectly, and when ur text is red… does that mean it’s a private message? works ratehr god… i can’t type today
no it means I used your nick so it showed up as red on your display Mordacai, type f_ and hit tab
f_newton, Like this?
yep oooh its red you know about tab completion then xchat has a help tab in the taskbar its very handy in learning about xchat
cool Ok, now… will thunderbird play a sound or pop up or anything when I get new mail?
you can set it up to I check my mail regularly
Ok, i’ll look around to set it up too… and I don’t get TOO much mail… but I probably will now i’m more connected
k…. nap time for me
cya
I’m going too… going to play some online games
okay can someone tell me what this error code means?
IS there a way to install remotely X-WINDOW in fedora 6
f_newton I think I may have narrowed the issue down to the intel mobo problem. However the fixes I see all involve adding an option at the boot menu. How do I force a boot menu to load?
any idea _ ? I SSH access to a remote server. I need to install X window from the shell
remember when i told you about pastebins? of course there is
how ?
yum groupinstall “GNOME Desktop Environment”
ARG… I’ll paypal $10 to the first person who helps me figure out how to successfully install linux host on this damn computer.
i don’t think $10 is enough for anyone above “homeless” to care much
okay so I need to paste this one line in an pastebin?
use a pastebin if you have errors or explain your problems in detail so we can help you
or a channel that can help cause its like I run through the problem and no one seems to know whats going on
downloading …
no, not 1 line .. but you never asked a question really
whats the problem? sorry, not been following
here is the error /libfirmware/bcm43xx_microcode2.fw: No such file or directory
I downloaded and burned Fedora 7 i386 to a dvd
i followed the readme.fedora with the fwcutter and ran the command in the readme along with the sys that was linked from the readme that was my output
I then tried to install with the dvd on a spare computer I have. When I try to install using either the graphical or text install options I end up in an endless cycle
[C##############] and then more text here but it goes so fast I can’t see it
however I know it does that sometimes… but we’re talking about 20-30 minutes
desktop or laptop?
desktop
It detects hardware ok?
how would I know?
or you not getting that far?
I don’t think I’m getting that far
Did you verify the iso checksum?
no one has any ideas?
talking to me ivaz?
Yes.
I did have trouble with one media set and I reburnt at 2x speed and it was ok
how do I do that? I have the dvd right here
First, let’s verify the iso.
ok
What OS do you have the iso under?
widnows xp home edition want to talk in msg to free up the chat?
Google for and download FCIV. No.
k found un unverified microsoft checksum utility ivaz???
Run it against the iso checking the SHA1 hash.
Ummm.. i’m sorry but how do I use this exactly?
Read the instructions you should’ve found.
why is that ivazquez’s responsibility? he pointed you to the tool you need .. take some initiative
hey hey, give the guy a break!
no I understand how the fciv program works, Am I checking the dvd I burned or the iso i downloaded? Opsec.. let me finish my question before you chew me out.
people need to stop being so dependent on hand holding
The iso, like I said.
i’m not chewing you out
well thats how it comes across.
you would notice a *big* difference in what i said if i were
I would if I knew you any better. Unfortunitly I don’t… therefore it came across as chewing me out.
ok. chewing you out i am then
okay think I may have figured it out
2 part purpose here .. #1 teach people how to use fedora effectively and correctly #2 teach people how to look for solutions on their own (i.e. teaching critical thinking skils)
ok, think you made your point now man
“don’t make too much sense, i can’t take it!!”
lmao
I know the whole RTFM bit. I googled first. I read the installation guide, I looked around at the available docs. Unfortunitly it’s a little hard to search for “Fedora 7 continuous installation cycle” and other varations.. it doesn’t quite fit the intel mobo issue it doesn’t quite fit anything else
perhaps you need to phrase your questions differently
Has FCIV completed the hash yet?
I’m moving the ISO which is taking a second. It wouldn’t read where i had it It is running now
In the meantime pull up a mirror and find the SHA1SUMS file next to the isos.
what computer is this?
Windows
no, hp, dell, sony ?
dell ok, I have the checksum
you may need a kernel argument like acpi=off because of some proprietary bios or something
it matches the checksum in the file
Okay, not the image then. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/F7Common
I know, but it says I need to put that option in durign the boot menu.. but I don’t have a bootmenu
Wait, you don’t even get a SYSLINUX menu?
no, I turn on the computer and it goes right to the installation screen
You know if the hddrive is sata?
You don’t see a text menu with balloons in the background?
no, old ide
is it a dell dual core or core2duo system?
neither.. it’s an old p4 2.4ghz
There isnt some daft bios setting for enhanced windows compatibility is there?
Take a moment to make sure you have the latest BIOS available for your system.
Sorry I was on the phone with T-Mobile… they ripped me off. Actually it’s been happening for a while. It wasn’t my top priority at the time
ok, 1 sec
It doesn’t happen with CentOS 4.5, but I believe it happens with CentOS 5. And, obviously, fedora 7
Luke_S, flickering screen might just be crappy hardware and/or acpi (power). see above for testing a boot without it. Luke_S, also, i saw DELL - call ‘em
Well… it was a comptuer donated to the school I work at. Don’t know if I exactly have a warrenty on it
I’m looking for (and have been for a while now, implying I’ve been googling my a** off) a way to make animated wallpapers work in GNOME. Can anybody help me with that?
main question
GNOME’s image loader doesn’t support animated images.
downhillgames, E17 has that gimmick
when you say “for testing a boot without it” what do you mean? (don’t see a link above. maybe it got cut off)
when I extract the firmware it has to go in the firmware folder or directory right?
Is there a way to bypass this?
Luke_S, acpi=off
zcat; Enlightenment *SHUDDER*
Ah - grep option?
cause as it sits now all the bcm43xx stuff is just in /usr/bin/bcm43xx
If you can find a way for GNOME/nautilus to give up the background then you could run an app in the root window.
and not in firmware
I suppose things like wallpapoz can’t help at all, here.
was I supposed to add that as a grep option?
i can’t help with that card .. i don’t have it and recommend you buy a pcmcia card or something supported that you don’t have to wrestle with for a week to get it working for 5 minutes
Luke_S, kernel boot opt from grub append it
i don’t know anyone who has an “easy” time with broadcom
so I just add that to the end right?
according to the developers in the development channel i need to use the firmware cutter
The only kind of person that has an easy time with broadcom is the one that doesn’t have it.
didn’t seem to do it…
i’m well aware of what is claimed that you need .. have i seen anyone actually make it work.. no.
heh… my broadcom worked without an issue.
I’m doing an interactive startup now
lol
then help him out
When I told microcode_ctl to start screen flashed…
opsec; k. lemme find t3h guide.
okay well downhillgames wait wait
no no? it works!
okay,
thanks for the input, ivazquez
make it work for him or micheal tsarion will come to your house and take you away into the sky
ok it’s flashing for every service i tell to start
LOL oh dear god
crappy dell…
Aaron_fedora7; do _whatever_ this says: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25683 i _swear_ it worked for mine perfectly once i got the right .ini file. er .inf file it was the bcom43xxa.inf or whatever… the one that ended in a.inf
which model card do you have?
uhhh… I sold it like 2 years ago. (6 months after i bought it) i don’t like laptops.
It seems to be flashing after certain services start
maybe slightly sooner… year and a half ago
do you know what model the card was?
ok this is VERY interesting. When I do “service sshd restart” my screen flashes It doesn’t matter what service it is
how can make it so i dont have to enter my password after the screensaver is killed?
so if I have ndiswrapper on another kernel version i still have to remove it?
Luke_S, nice frankensystem. continue troubleshooting or get nonsucky edgecase hardware ooo. stargate atlantis season 4 begins. Luke_S, you can also try booting with the ‘noapic’ options
martman Uh, that IS why the checkbox is there.
okay is there a quick way to add your name to the sudoers in fedora
You mean other than the normal way?
or the normal way
/etc/sudoers
Uh, why woudn’t he just add himself to the wheel group? Better *still*, why wouldn’t he actually READ the sudoers file?
mwilson, because that’s a whole TWO commands. heh
GOT IT!
theres a readme? ha
Did anyone mention a README?
well here’s the thing. it doesn’t happen in CentOS 4.5
Not that sudo, visudo, and sudoers don’t have a man page or anything like that…
Somehow the Radeon fx 5100…. I disabled the card and everything is working great… all be it on 1mb of onboard video… but it’s working.
And a buddy told me to run “lsmod | grep -i fb” and there’s no output for vesafb
Luke_S, yeah, well, i’ve never had that problem. sounds like an edge case with your hardware. google + troubleshoot
anyone know the smallest 64 bit linux distro?
i do it’s called the linux kernel
that is a distro? never heard of it, and it is confusing to use the same name as the linux kernel.
no. it’s the linux hosting kernel
He’s so straight forward…
(See the
indicates I’m not being serious)
lol, sad that you have to add that
hahaha.. I remmeber when 40 megs was HUGE!
It still is huge..
sure if your talking about an mp3
It is huge when all I want is a 64 bit linux to run inside a VM to run folding at home.
look elsewhere.. I’ve seen a “tiny linux” (definitly not the name) somewhere
damn small linux maybe?
it was something darn obvious.. so obvious to remember apparently
dsl isn’t 64 bit
hi
ahh
why do you want 64bit?
maybe you could try a barebones gentoo setup though it would be much bigger than dsl
to run folding at home….I’ve found the bottleneck and it is the fsb. I need to confine an smb instance to a single die. fsb=front side bus.
smb = smart monkey bum?
heres a quesiton if I have ndiswrapper on one kernel version and another updates and it loads on start up will the module for ndiswrapper be in the new one
you know there are other ways to set processor affinity, right?
no, I didn’t
gentoo minimal is 100 or so megs
Aaron_fedora7, you can upgrade ndiswrapper, it’s fine..
That sounds like a weiner, unless sdodson’s hint works out.
lol
i dont need to upgrade i was just curious if it was there
Aaron_fedora7, may have to re-import– the window files.. but you can stick with the same window files.. perlmonkey2, see the intel site, see if there’s a chipset firmware update..
Actually, that wont’ work. I need to confine all 4 smb instances to a single die of two cores. All 4 processes will communicate, so the only solution is to give them a single die. bActually, that wont’ work. I need to confine all 4 smb instances to a single die of two cores. All 4 processes will communicate, so the only solution is to give them a single die./b
wish i had a multicore to be bothered with that sort of thing, haha
It is nicer than I would have ever imagined.
schedtool package should work
Cool thanks
ya, i wanna build a new computer baddly :/ using a nasty old p4
I used an old p4 for 3 years while I saved up $500 for this bad boy. A Q6600
you can determine which cpus are on which dies by looking at the sibblings in the details from /proc/cpuinfo but I’d assume cpu 0 and 1 are on one die, 2 and 3 on another, etc.
thanks, I’ll check
probably saved that much on energy bills too, heh
heh, each proc says it has 4 siblings.
hyperthreading?
Nope, this is a Q6600 Don’t think it supports HT
if I install the vmware tools in a fedora core 7 guest, what else do I need to do to resize the desktop?
I’ll be able to figure it out fast….If I pair the wrong cpu’s lo will have 1gb of traffic.
Supaplex, you probably need to restart the guest..
worth a shot. humm. no different.
Supaplex, well how’d you install vmware tools? did it give a popup saying it was successful?
schedtool -a 0,1 3499 3500 3501 3502 should have made two of my cpus idle….they aren’t….any ideas why?
yea. I inserted the cd image, double clicked on the rpm, installed it, and it was fine.
Supaplex, you running fedora as guest?
yes
Supaplex, then X should be using the vmware driver
that’s what xorg says
Supaplex, then check the vmware client.. try going ctl-alt-enter.. or check some options.. Supaplex, i believe the latest is vmware 6.x ..
using vmware-server 1.0.3 I have autofit window and autofix guest enabled
Supaplex, ok, thought you were on vmware workstation– you may wanna ask the vmware folks.. are you connecting by vnc?
no I’m using the vmware-server-console client
Supaplex, so even viewing in full screen doesn’t zoom in?
vmware-server-console (1) - Remote viewer for Intel(TM) x86(TM)-based virtual machine it just stretches the screen to fit. resolution is unchanged
Supaplex, hehe.. then learn X..
let me install a guest I’m more familar with and see how it compares
Anyone know of a good tech news website?
Supaplex, if you use vmware full screen– the dot resolution is dependent on vmware’s driver inside and out.. you did the outside, you’ll have to edit X org’s config file, which is the inside resolution
perlmonkey2, schedtool works on process scheduling, and not the rest of what makes a CPU busy I assume.
directrevolt, fedora’s site? Supaplex, if it stretches then it’s working..
So it won’t force a process to only run on one cpu?
Supaplex, (and just for the outside, the inside is not touched)
hexus?
odd. with xvidtune+auto, next+previous say the mode is changed, but I don’t see any difference. there’s only 640×480 and 800×600
directrevolt - /. maybe?
thanks. just what i’m looking for
glad to help
perlmonkey2, It will - just that associated kernel processes may not.
the “beyond3d” section of hexus is also nice
ooooooo
Supaplex, your vmware setup sounds like it’s working.. i’ll give you a hint (you might be able to play with X’s shortkeys for zoom)
Phoronix
Phoronix is good when they actually write content. They tend to post a lot of articles with no content however.
lol
Lets make a site that formats change log entries into an article…
We could call it… Kerneltrap!
are there any automated installers for lilo once the kernal is built and you don’t have a GUI accessable?
Fedora doesn’t use lilo anymore. Anyways, the Fedora kernel packages DTRT.
phoronix isn’t always that bad and, i don’t know of any other site that focuses on hardware when it comes to open source OS’s, so have to give em that, heh
Ohhh.. ivaz, where can I access it from the command prompt?
Say what?
per my promblem before my video card is obsctructing linux from loading properly. I believe there is an option I need to enable at the boot to correct it. In the meantime the only way I can load linux is through onboard video which sucks so bad it cannot support a gui.
Which video card, and what’s the on-board?
Radeon fx 5100 card, I can’t find the data on the internal. It’s a Dell GX260
the fx5100 is an nvidia card isnt it?
Double checking.. I bought it for $30… I am probably mistaken
the fx5xxx series cards from nvidia sucked horribly
try /sbin/lscpi
I dont think he can get that far rodg
should tell you exactly what it is in that output lol that’s too bad
Ivaz/Newton: Sorry it’s a Ge-Force FX 5200 128mb
thats the worst card nvidia ever made and I dont like nvidia
lol
That should work with the nv driver I think. Try passing “vesa” at the prompt. Pull the nVidia if you have to.
a lot of those cards had faulty chipsets ivazquez , especially the bestdata brands some of the better brands were marginally ok
My 3DFuzion FX5500 seems to be okay…
I’m sorry pass the what? and how do I do that?
When the SYSLINUX menu comes up, press the key that lets you edit the boot prompt.
no syslinux menu comes up
thats either a or e right ivazquez ?
it boots directly to fedora linux logon at a text level
No clue. Is this the F7 install disc?
the live cd?
yes. the F7 i386 iso not live
Very, very strange…
Sorry.. Grub loads so quickly I hardly see it. I have C for commandline, e to edit commands before booting and a to modify kernal arguments before booting
grub? That only shows up once it’s installed.
it is installed…
Ah.
Clearly I’ve completely forgotten what your issue is
lol
(or maybe I never really knew…)
hmm, ya where exactly are you in this process? you’ve installed it onto the machine, or you’re on the cd?
1. getting the video card to work, 2. getting gui to load
ber, but on the cd or after the install?
I installed onto the machine and booting from the harddrive.
ok and, you’re taken to the command prompt asking for a pass?
yes well root and rootpass all i have right now
mk, log in as root and look at /etc/X11/xorg.conf er, that is “nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf”
http://fedorasolved.org/video-solutions/nvidia-yum-livna/
bah, livna
wait. Do I need to do anything at the boot level?
Nope.
i don’t think so, there’s no other problem other than X not starting, right?
well if I enable the video card the kernal panics whenever I boot
wow
Oi…
this is a fresh install?
yes
wow again, lol well, try using the vesa driver and see if that works?
ok.. how do I do that? lol
If it gives a kernel panic on bootup then it’s FUBAR.
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf and look for the device section, then replace “nv” wit “vesa”
no fubar… fubar means I have to go out and buy a new card.
beh
so again no boot changes?
don’t think so well, i’m still not exactly clear on what the set up is here, so i’m not sure, but try that i guess
You could try the various PCI, APIC, and ACPI kernel options.
i wonder when exactly in the boot process it’s panicing?
Also, did you update the kernel?
yep
anyone seen randy or lahey?
Not I.
which command would I want to add vesa to?
You’d add vesa at the install prompt. But you’re already long past that.
ah, all you need to do is put vesa in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Update the kernel.
then when u restart, it should use that kernel update would also make sense
if you’re KPing, a kernel update would make _most_ sense
lol
what ivazquez said directrevolt
i just read my scrollback
update the kernel
how about if you’re “KFed” ?
then downgrading britteny makes most sense
lol
what’s your obsession with k-fed? for god sakes i dont even know who he is or what he looks like, just idiots keep talking about him
the dude is zeus among us
i almost spit out my caprisun
blasphemy
i wouldn’t even have that chemical swill next to me
lol, haha, ya, that stuff is gross
good thing i’m not you, eh?
10% real fruit juice .. 90% sed dye #9 and cyanide juice *red
mmmm deathilicious
and a bit of lsd so people who drink it think it should taste good
i see proper food intake like proper package management ..
and that’s why you use linux
and you use RPM good job you fail
the majority of people who come in here have their systems totally junked up and ruined by improper repo use or improper software installation you try to tell them .. and they argue with you
it worked after install!
lol
because they don’t really want help .. they just want to whine about *something*
well no kidding, you didn’t have 40 addons and 3 compiles then
gives *me* something to whine about ..
the circle is complete now stop your whining and help someone O
their incessant whining fuels my whining like fossil fuel
where’d directrevolt go?
opsec scared him away
Rodge/Ivaz: If anyone ever comes with this problem again have them edit the boot commands and add in “agp=off” solving my problem
toxifying #fedora with the resulting pollutant chat
Oh yay, wonky AGP.
lol, nice
wonky is a new one.
wonky is classic
Now for problem #2… enabling the gui which apparently was turned off during the install or not installed.
i’ll call it more “jacnky” myself
lol
your humor makes me warm and fuzzy
directrevolt; edit /etc/inittab
That’s easy. Edit /etc/inittab.
janky .. jacnky is the polish spelling
make sure the default is runlevel 5
what are the various runlevels for?
masturbation mostly
starting various combinations of services
read the dox if you’re curious
/etc/inittab
sed -i ’s/^id:3/id:5/’ /etc/inittab
or here’s an idea. www.google.com/?q=runlevels www.google.com/search?q=runlevels
hisss, sed
i always forget the “search” in that
Seriously, Google should accept it without the “search”.
you’d think the search would be the default function of the default page. or uh be the default page.
directrevolt, /etc/inittab has an explanation for the common ones. The rest are room for expansion/ customisation.
i’m not gonna pretend to know how Google does things internally… but one would think search would be the focus.
Indeed.
ivazquez; did ya get a chance to read my latest blog entry?
I’m fairly sure I did.
i took some photos when they built google here
Although TBH, I have so many damn feeds I can’t remember what I saw on which.
ivazquez; i found out tonight, while looking for my birth cert, that my birth mother was a friggin’ genius.
Arg… I broke the boot process
eh, damn
guess I should make a post instead of saying it a couple dozen times to everyone.
openlinuxproject.org/pages/google.html
Sounds like a plan.
openlinux has succeeded. Linux has been “open” from the start.
each air conditioner on top of the google building is the size of a mid-sized car .. there are 32 air conditioners per datafarm that’s like having 32 cars parked on your roof
what a strong building. their page says “free of nonsense” — As always, Ubuntu includes the very best of the 100% free/libre application software world, and each new release incorporates countless new features and bugfixes from the global development community. — i call “includes the very best of” nonsense.
interesting — openlinux mentions Fedora but not openSUSE
GNOME is the best D/E… maany people will disagree with me. Pidgin is the best IM client…. maaany will say Kopete is
lol
because OpenSuSE is a piece of crap.
kopete sucks, but kde isn’t so bad heh
what’s wrong with it?
it exists,
yes it does
s/\,/./
kde is ok but it is glitchy
hrm
gnome works a lot better
mosno; http://openlinuxproject.org/distros/suse.html the name wasn’t updated
alot of things in current kde just feel hacked together
f_newton; it was just an example.
qt is awsome though.. well qt4 anyway
rodge; let’s not go here.
I have no hatred for KDE, I just wish they’d switch to GTK+ already.
lol
haha
i was more referring to the fact that it links to novell.com, not opensuse.org
ivazquez; i should kick you in the nuts. lol
novell owns suse now doesnt it?
lol downhillgames i’ve had a debate with you about this already
ie. there should be one for SLE and one for openSUSE. but yea, oh well
(only joking mate) f_newton; yes.
well, couldn’t really call it a debate
this is #fedora
#fedora you say? damnit, i thought i was in #sparta
lol
THIS IS #FEDOOORRRAAA
everyone does
yet a french fry comes from greece
rodge; a pissing match, really. a semi-polite pissing match is what it was.
well, it was more you spitting random personal remarks and me rambling on
WOOHOO Back up and running!!
hey, as long as we aren’t talking about #betterthanthou, my personal remarks are purely for conversation derailment and fun
lol, grats direct
If #fedora isn’t seeing its share of chaos on a daily bit then everyone in the world must have died.
lmao
s/bit/basis/
i’d have to agree with that, ivazquez
more nightwish now..
i miss fedora
or the debianite migrant users got stuck on the freeway.
or like i always say in Windows, “This probably won’t work right the first time unless the planets are all aligned”
I have my laptop connected through bluetooth to my cellphone and it’s connected to the internet…all for free that’s so sweet
weee
i have 2 sata hdd, but while installing fedora on my system, it detects only one hdd ?? what to do ?
ok, now you made me want to start a cartoon about a man who finds “debianite” which is actually the shape of the logo for Debian. he becomes the worlds Elitest savior
unless its sprint robbins876 and then they are gonna stick you with about two hundred dollars an hour
lol
wish me luck…. rebooting now
those a holes!
heck, let’s make it a woman, just for fun.
gogog
downhillgames, Make here dress like the BSD debil !! s/here/her
how do i get both of my sata hdd detected while installing fedora ??
yes, that would make a crapload of sense seeing as how it’s a LINUX cartoon
downhillgames, Well we are being ironic right?
f_newton, then i guess the 2 minutes i was connected is expensive enough!
mutk; no…
lol, haha
Oh.
neol; what’s not happening?
downhillgames, Damn, really?
one HDD? is it set differently than the other?
have fun
I havn’t installed linux since it fit on 12 floppy disks so this was a bit of an experience for me.
downhillgames both r of same sata 2 technology, it detects only 80 gb but does not detect 160gb hdd ??
lol, that sounds painful
neol; 1 other question, are they configured in RAID mode or Compatibility mode?
Hi ppl
no
odd
it was.. I had to download to the floppies on a 2400 baud modem
downhillgames, See I thought since you made your elitist saviour a woman, there was some irony there.. Since Christian mainstream seems to think our saviour is a man..
I’m new to Fedora
robbins876, sprint has a data usage clause for their cell phones. if you use the phone as in intermediate device such as a modem their surcharge applies. if you access their net you have to use either the phone directly or have one of their mobile access cards for your laptop
neol; that wasn’t a yes or no answer. which are they in? s/answer/question/
and I really need some help, please?
ewww
tell me about it
i meant i’m not using raid mode, just normal mode.
mutk; our? there is no god. no deity.
OmarHafez87, Ask questions. No need to request permission.
neol; ok, so probably IDE compat mode then. (it’s one or the other )
ok srry
i look at my personal savior in the mirror everyday .. anyone else claiming to be is an impostor
neol; what happens if you switch them physically on the motherboard? does the 160 show up and not the 80GB?
I’m trying to download the Flash Player plugin for FireFox
www.adobe.com
and it doesn’t work?
I downloaded it
OmarHafez87; follow ivazquez’s link. click on the flash player and get the YUM repo download.
OmarHafez87, go to adobe and install the yum repo then yum install flash-plugin
yeah, that.
what u mean by physically switching wondering……….. both of my hdd are easily detected in bios.
downhillgames, Oh well. It seemed like a good oportunity to take a swipe at women, BSD, Debian and mainstream religion all at once.
but I didn’t know how to install it
f_newton, i’ve got Verizon, and apparently it only uses your minutes
uh-huh ok
OmarHafez87, just click on the rpm and it will auto install
You click on it. It asks you for the root password. You type it in. The package installs.
neol; uh, i mean try moving the 160GB and 80GB to each others’ slots.
robbins876, ok better check
so they are reversed. like… *sigh* you don’t get me?
gnight
night rodge mutk; errr i was being serious. ever used Debian?
i didnt try that.
downhillgames, Of course I have.
can anyone confirm whether iwl4965 wireless works on F8 Test 2 or greater?
It should.
neol; i’m not sure about _fixing_ anything but …would certainly be more informative. maybe you’re using a different controller for each drive?
“should”
isnt their a way to get it work, and i’m using via chipset……. older version never even detected any of my hdds, since drivers were absent. controllers r same for both.
oooh maybe you need a respin with a newer kernel
Does anyone know where do I find a Divx codec for Linux??
is there a way to make grub wait longer for initial input before booting?
downhillgames, It was breifly enjoyable to use Deb, look down upon the great majority of the un-informed. I grew a beard, bought suspenders and managed to sit cross legged and stroke my beard for long periods, whilst contemplating my superiority.
but both of my hdds r easily detected in mandriva, ubuntu, and other distros…. damn
neol; this is quite odd.
sounds like a debianite
i’m gonna say try a respin… cept i don’t have a way to give you one.
what is respin ??? update kernel ?
I’m trying to install x11vnx, however, I get this error: A working X window system build environment is required to build x11vnc …
Does anyone know where do I find a Divx codec for Linux??
mutk; wanna help me write that cartoon?
heh
i’ll vector it, you write
downhillgames, There you go the debiante must be a woman with a beard, and suspenders
u meant to change sata slot connection ?
OmarHafez87; xvid. search yum/yumex/whatever you use for it
or a moron on the short bus that believes he’s a genius because all the other morons say so
neol; if other distros recognize it, then i don’t know, man. you probably need a newer respin you probably need a respin a respin is a good idea maybe a respin will work
bsee if evil_bob is around sometime… isnt he working on a respin?
no… but i dont understand what u mean by ” RESPIN ” dude… please elaborate.
Unity released a respin
aaaahh… www.fedora-unity.org
its an installation of fedora with all the latest updates
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtWcb0bcA-A
neol, http://spins.fedoraunity.org/
there.
anyone here played with xen at all?
take a moment and eat some fresh himalayan goji berries
oh… thanks
did you eat your goji berries? that video was just wrong in so many ways. Hackenschmidt; i’m sure a lot have. got a question?
the federal reserve private bank is “just wrong” .. doesn’t stop them
who truly can?
ya, is it possible to install an instance of windows?
themselves.
instant windows eh?
??? instance.
lol no instances
learn english, you twat
it is
hi folks, I ran growisofs about 7 hours ago to burn a 4gig .iso and it’s still running. Did I miss anything on the command line?
is it possible to install an instance of windows? lloks like english to me..
an f_newton have a love affair
opsec you are jealous
mutk; not him, f_newton
nah.. i go hansolo
f_newton would be lucky to have a love affair with his dog
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd=myiso.iso
oh barf
Hackenschmidt, You can install an instance of Windows. You will need a CPU capable of VM-X or HVM ( hardware support for virtualisation) ..
thanks mutk but i’m at a lost of what to do. xen boots fc7 but how do i get another virtual domain?
check whether some other services r not slowing down ur writing speed.
oh core 2 duo?
Why not use wodim ?
opsec; i think i should change my name to Durtro just to piss you off
Hackenschmidt, The reason is that since windows is non-free, we cannot modify it to work in ‘parra-virt’ mode like Linux can.
John, I wasn’t familiar with other tools
won’t piss me off
so wodim?
annoy?
if i wanted to i’d hunt that guy down and erase him
Hackenschmidt, their is a few a way to run windows with in fedora with tools like Vmware or other vitrual tools
ah thanks what i thought so i have to run it in full then?
Then right click in GNOME and burn.
u should have used k3d oh yeh, that is still easier.
lol time to take another zanex opsec
i’ve never heard of it neol
Hackenschmidt, Yes must be fully virt. And that needs hardware assistance in Xen. In
is it also good?
xanex
so what if my proc does support vmx?
Im sure you are right
its k3b… typo error
Advil has a candy coating, it is delicious. It says right on the bottle, “Do not take more than 2.” Well, then do not give them a candy coating, for I cannot help myself!
neol, I will google it
Let me have more Advil for I have a sweet tooth
Hackenschmidt, It should then be possible to run a windows guest.. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs/Fedora7VirtQuickStart
Hackenschmidt; think of the children, install vmware-server
try taking them from the other end .. to “absorb” the flavor
lmao
opsec; not my joke. Mitch Hedberg
vmware-server is free as in beer. But not freedom.
*gasp*
downhillgames, i locks my system
i know .. i recognized it .. from where i didn’t know
Hackenschmidt; ouch! why? what happens?
image if you took a screen shot of fedora
i thought i’d let you have your plagarized glory without calling you out
it’s about that usfull after i run vmware
you have low ram or something?
4gbs wrong kernel moduels
me too. i run XP in vmware-server… lots of people do. so update and recompile them?
they don’t exist for the newest kernels so i read
opsec; come on over to the chair, lunch dinner about… one. Hackenschmidt; apparently not… they get _compiled for it_
i need tortillas .. back in 30
Hackenschmidt, The installation and config process of vmware-server includes building modules for the kernel you have running.
right now at this moment… ok.. done… they compile just fine. newest kernel-PAE here The configuration of VMware Server 1.0.4 build-56528 for Linux for this running kernel completed successfully.
maybe i’m just unlucky
uname -r 2.6.22.7-85.fc7PAE
Does anyone know where do I find a Divx codec for Linux??
OmarHafez87; yum install yumex once you got that open, type in “divx”
Hackenschmidt, Luck has very little to do with it.
have a field day
Hackenschmidt, Avoid the Xen kernel if you want to use VMware though.
i dunno, my gnome panels start going all crazy the other day…….
Hackenschmidt; do you have kernel-devel installed?
downhillgames yes
crazy like how? 400MB out of 4GB… what a waste of RAM
huh?
i’m using 400MB of my 4GB of RAM i bought i expected to use a LOT more running Linux (considering how much crap i do at once)
dang. video and sound work only sometimes too lol
(EE) Failed to load module “i810″ (module does not exist, 0) (EE) No drivers available.
Hackenschmidt; may i PM you?
go nuts
when running startx
nachalibre, Yeh you may not have the package that provides the module installed. nachalibre, Xorg serve modules were modularised. yum list available to see if it’s in the list
how can I get it ?
nachalibre, It may have the i810 in there. If not it might be ‘intel’ these daysd. nachalibre, Fedora 7 ?
Fedora 6 I edited the file zorg.conf xorg.conf changed to “intel” same problem
ivazquez; ping
how can I do this: you haven’t put the i810 module into the kernel. emerge x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810 and see what happens. if that doesn’t work, try taking away the - infront of the 810 in VIDEO_CARDS. finally, modprobe the i810 driver, then start xorg
edit xorg.conf and change Driver to i810
it is already there
nachalibre, Did you do what I suggested with yum? nachalibre, BTW, referncing gentoo solutions is just silly .
mutk sorry but I didnt understand
vga=791 fixed the flashing issue
what do I do with yum this is my xorg.conf file http://pastebin.com/m6d27f8cd
nachalibre, yum install xorg-x11-drv-i810 nachalibre, I already know what the problem is. No need to show the xorg.conf. It isn’t finding i810 becuase you don’t have it installed.
great. I just installed as you mentioned. now the error dissapeared. Now I get: (EE) No devices detected. Fatal server error: no screens found that’s all the errors I get. the i810 has gone I need to mention that I’m using putty …
nachalibre, Ok. What makes you think you have an i810 graphics controller? Or at least one that needs the i810 drvr? nachalibre, Oh and there is usually an easier way to configure your system..
how ? basically I just wnat to install VNC
nachalibre, system-config-display –reconfig . But you need to be at a local screen. nachalibre, You don’t need a real graphics controller to use VNC.. nachalibre, This is a prime example of ‘If only you said what you are trying to do’ nachalibre, yum install vnc-server
ok. I’m trying to use VNC to start a graphical session,
nachalibre, Generall that is what you do with it..
right now I can only get into the shell via putty
mutk has identified an error in your overall thinking process
ot pother SSH software
wugh?
as simple as that.
”ot pother SSH software’ aint simple to me. It’s gibberish
1.- Currently I’m accessing a remote machine via SSH with putty.
nachalibre, Why?
2.- In order to access using a graphical interface, I would like to install x11vnc
nachalibre, yum install vnc-server
ok, I get an error there, let me put the error here, 1 sec.
no dpaste.com don’t paste anything here
ok
give us the link to your error you wearing those leather pants again?
a**less chaps
well, now the vnc installation worked out!
*blue oyster bar*
opsec, I know it’s seems impossible but it gets more exciting without them.
haha
Pong.
nachalibre, Yay. Now edit /etc/sysconfig/vncservers file
ivazquez; PM ok?
careful stud.
Sure.
nachalibre, A slightly different approach http://fedorasolved.org/network-solutions/vncserver-setup/?searchterm=vnc
Why aren’t you using nx/freenx?
http://fedorasolved.org/network-solutions/vncserver-setup/?searchterm=vnc — needs some editing and corrections so that /etc/sysconfig/vncservers is used.
hey folks, 99% cpu on hald-on-stor? what is that? hald-addon-stor instead
a hung process? defaultro; http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Asus_A6T#Hard_Disk_Drive_.26_Optical_Disk_Drive scroll down slightly to the giant, pretty colors. amazing what google can do.
yes, I killed haldaemon i went to /etc/rc.d/init.d
you could simply disable it.
I was burning a dvd using growisofs don’t know why it brought my system almost to a halt
“hal-disable-polling –device /dev/sr0″
what does that command do?
_read the wiki_
k
defaultro, Read the link downhillgames Showed.
hah wow
so looks like i will gain improvement if I disable it
i hope you don’t somehow _lose_ an improvement that might rip a hole in the space-time continuum or something
k
you do that, psycho man.
you like baby seals? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMDl39CkRuo
lmfao i wanna watch Office Space now
btw. i don’t have hal-disable-polling. hmmm
defaultro; su -
don’t you have any real problems .. or you just like inventing things?
opsec, i ran top and it was showing hald-addon-stor at 99%. This happenend when i was burning dvd using the command that AndyCap gave to me earlier. growisofs -Z …. downhill, i’m logged in as root
type “hal” and hit tab twice.
you don’t want to believe me [root@localhost init.d]# hal hald hal-find-by-capability hal-get-property halt hal-device hal-find-by-property hal-set-property
is there a way to update system without updating a certain package using the shell ?
defaultro; yum install hal-disable-polling i have it.
cool thanks
chewed-on, –exclude=package
uhm..
yum install /usr/bin/hal-disable-polling
cheers! I’ll give it a shot now.
chewed-on; to permanently exclude it, add “exclude=package” to yum.conf
if you don’t have that command you have other problems
downhillgames, I will run it against /dev/hdd because that’s where it is complaining
all those commands come in the hal package
I’ll leave it on temporary right now so I can do a few times to remember the command then maybe later I’ll add it.
don’t you have any real problems .. or you just like inventing things? —– ffs man take you head out of your ass and stop being blind to everything. mr “bigshot” know-it-all. I’m not even going to give you the priviledge of a comeback on this one either. Silly prick.
no idea why it’s not there Parsing package install arguments hal-disable-polling
someone has erased them from your system or you have had hal replaced by something else rpm -q hal
checking it now [root@localhost init.d]# rpm -qa |grep hal hal-0.5.8.1-4.fc6 hal-devel-0.5.8.1-4.fc6 hal-cups-utils-0.6.2-4
don’t paste here
I keep getting this error even after excluding it from the update Transaction Check Error: package popt-1.12-3.fc8 (which is newer than popt-1.10.2.1-1.fc7) is already installed Error Summary ————-
dpaste.com jesus
sorry
chewed-on: same for you
too lazy hehe.
more than 1 line is just spam to everyone here
more than 4…
i’m not laughing more than 1
chewed-on; that’s an F8 package. we can’t support you dude…
I’m using Fedora Core 7 only.
no, you’re using Fedora 8 you just don’t know it
I’m trying to not install that package so my other packages can be installed, otherwise the other packages I’ve updated are only on hold from installation.
