Bandwidth Allowance- Also known as Data Transfer or Traffic Allowance...
What is Bandwidth/Traffic Allowance
This is the amount of monthly download allocated to your site.
For example with the $5.99 hosting plan you are allowed 5Gb of monthly traffic.
What this means is that 5Gb of data can be downloaded from your site within
one month.
In English: Every time when someone views your web site they are using bandwidth/downloading
data. If your page is 50Kb in size (averige webpage) then every user viewing
that page is using 50 Kb of the bandwidth allocated to your site.
For multimedia applications, quicktime and mp3 files it is advisable to go for
the database plan (allowing 10Gb) since downloading
these files uses lots more bandwidth than the standard web page (gifs and jpgs
only) without any multimedia. If you're unsure email
us your URL and we will be able to tell you more precisely which plan would
be most suitable for your website.
How much is actually 5 Gb?
For an average size web page it will mean that that one page can be viewed roughly
1,000,000 times in order for you to stay within the limits of the traffic allowance.
If you have just started developing your site and are not sure how much traffic
you will need, purchase the $5.99 plan (if you don't have a database on the
site) and if after a certain period it turns out that you need more traffic
you can always easily upgrade to the higher traffic plan.
If you are approaching your bandwidth limit, we will send you email warnings asking you to either upgrade your plan or purchase extra bandwidth.
