foo(), it calls static method of the same class.. but when i extend the class, i need to make a call to the overloaded method instead… any way i can achieve this ?
So, upgrade your development / test servers first, do a rigorous test, fix all issues arising, and deploy a new build of those applications at the same time as the upgrade
It will NOT be easy
Alternatively, you could move your applications one at a time to a new sevrer running PHP5, deploying fixed versions as you’ve finished testing them
i would think that largely depends if people upstream already did the work (if there is an upstream)
There’s a handy migration guide too - http://uk3.php.net/manual/en/migration5.php
Even if people upstream “already did the work”, depending on what kind of business relationship you have with them, you probably shouldn’t trust them
huh?
In particular, any application which is claimed to work with PHP4 and PHP5 is probably rubbish
Your upstream maintainers may simply claim it works on a particular version, but not haev tested it rigorously
you wouldn’t trust that a widely deployed app that’s already been through several cycles supporting both actually does?
Depends what their QA standards are
say, fe, wordpress?
good night all
Wordpress is a huge steaming pile,

is there a way to make mysql accept fractions with comma as the decimal separator?
or at least die with an error instead of silenly rounding
99% of the world uses a decimal point, fix the app
or multiply by 100 and store in cents.
ilor, use a decimal for the code but you can reformat it to a comma for display purposes
there are 65 countries that use comma though
roughly
but im sure they all code with decimals
and ill shut up now because clearly noone cares as usual.
Hi, i have a server with mysql, and im thinking of buying one more, and install mysql on, and use loadbalancing, but is that possible, i know i can do it with apache, but is it possible with mysql?
Danielss89 yes, look up mysql cluster
its still kinda beta
ok..
http://rafb.net/p/qQkyEv83.html
Danielss89 oh and you need a third machine to arbitrate the cluster and possibly do the balancing
okey, so i actually need 3 servers..
yep
ok..
Danielss89 this one’s nice http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/mysql-cluster-for-two-servers.html
Danielss89, others would say use replication, writes to A and reads to both A and B
hmm
if i use mysql cluster will the to databases be identical, or will some info be on one and some other info on another?
its weird, my site is kind a slow […]
man UT2k4 is fun
I live in Australia!!!
i know.
:52 != 22
:22*
hehe
alex[slx]; a friend on another network once said (and I know it’s corny, but it was funny): I’m from Australia! I’m from the future!
rofl
quite the opposite I’d say
was just in UT uninterrupted.
it was niiiice
http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Plugins/Cube#3d
that’s why it’s not in fusion! it’s being re-written
hey, anyone running f8 test2 with all the latest updates? Mine was running fine until I ran the updates
now x crashes when I try to login to gdm
alex[slx]: where you at?
Adelaide.
thought so
Why’s that?
you know any of the linuxsa crowd?
i’m getting GLib-CRITICAL: g_key_file_get_string : assertion `key_file != NULL’ failed
and you do know about the linux-aus channel?
sounds painful
yeah, it sucks because it was introduced in the updates
Ummm… I’ve googled linuxsa and haven’t decided wether I want in or not yet.
and no I haven’t
good channel?
yeah, quite good
LinuxSA worth getting into you reckon?
how can I disable a network card on load of /etc/init.d/network ?
I don’t want it to try wlan0
alex[slx]: yeah, I know a few people from there (I’m on the Linux Australia ctte), and they have know their stuff
ctte?
committee
ah thought so.
Hhmm, you’ll have to point out the LinuxSA members to me.
I’m interested in getting involved.
hi
how do I install the newest version […]

will you guys indulge me with a silly question or two?
stefg, uh i’m guessing its like vmware in which you cannot run directx applications right?
ehird`, we tell ppl to use x86 unless they have specific need of a 64 bit os
you are going to laugh, look at: SDTIN
this is #ubuntu, those are the only questions we field
ssorry pelo i mislead you, I am trying to boot from the CD and while in the boot and there is abunch of txt and [ok] after each line it comes up
no prob
i wanna ask for stupid WIFI problem. With DHCP i can go out inet, but i cant reach my gateway!!!
is it possible??
heh, I’m an idiot, I told you thanks.
no virtualizer can run 3D games at the time being.
I think it’s set up now. How would I install something? Do I just type path\setup.exe if it’s that type of file?
Everything works fine except that mb4 and 5 have switched places with mb6 and 7. How can I fix this? I have this in xorg.conf: ButtonMapping “1 2 3 6 7″
Nighthawk420_, ah, not installed yet ok , that’s another matter, you can’t use the live cd with a ati videocard ati does not have […]
and the weird default control panel on the desktop, with user manager og printer manager or something
looks like my oldest screenshot is RH9 (from 2003). Anything older i probably lost because i wasn’t using raid yet. http://jasonfarrell.com/images/screenshots/screenshot2.png
and too lazy to dig through boxes of rotten floppies
hm. what do I need to do to rebuild a rpm package? rpmbuild –rebuild ntop.src.rpm gives me error: cannot write to %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES
are you building as root?
vzduch, no as tobias
well, the error msg leaves no doubt about what the problem is
vzduch, sure, but I remember buiding stuff like this before. something changed w f7 I don’t know what..
tobi1canobe, install rpmdevtools and run rpmdev-setuptree
Darkon, will try thanks
i second Darkon’s advice
take notes.
I’m not (yet) into RPM building, I was just interpreting the error msg
taht is apparent
kernelpatches work without a reboot?
normally not
even with kexec?
never heard of
2.6.22-4
-65
is it stable?
it’s release in Fedora 7
22nd August
Fedora is testing on itself, playgarden for the comercial red hat :/
So?
is this kernel stable?
fedora is a home version of red hat?
No it isn’t.
My server’s less stable on 2.6.20-1.2320, fc5
it came with fc7 :/
JohnMahowald, well it kinda sorta is
I have run 2.6.22.4-65.fc7 for days at a time.
but a version of Red Hat it is not

is livna only open source
where can i find closed source like oper and flash?
rpm.livna.org provides “distributable” stuff.
not necessary Free Software
the adobe flash plugin isnt distributable. Though adobe have their own yum repository.
what about sun-java6
I installed awstats in my F7 system, if I try to access it by http://localhost/awstats/ , I am getting 403, how to fix this ?
not free, not distributable ? (yet)
how have you i installed it ?
Anvil, using yum
Anvil, fixed
have you tried google earth 4.2 ?
hello
Anyone know what I’m doing wrong in trying to make an i586 livecd with revisor then using livecd tools to put it on a thumb drive? I keep getting i686 kernel.
an i586 livecd ?
wont that be slow as hell ?
How so?
just minimal system and X for XDMCP connection
besides the enemy of a livecd is low memory
how so ? well, i586 is usualy old hardware, old disks, old ide bus, old cdrom drive
in my case relatively new for the purpose… they are little ITX systems with via eden and 1GB DDR
But that’s a slow system, that doesn’t mean the live CD itself is slow.
good point
It’s possible to have i686 systems that are slower than i586 systems.
the performance on these things when working is about […]
garu, it works for me. I havn’t had a stability problem in fedora.
where do i find the page that has the important dates for Fedora 8? It used to be on the front page of fedoraproject.org, but i cant find it now
starbird humn…but, would you recommend it for a noob?like 2 and a half months using linux?Because I know that the best way to start with linux, coming from a windows environment is by trying “ubuntu” (the easiest one. But I got another computer, which ubuntu doesnt play well…Did some
research and found out that Fedora is a very powerful distro.but dont really know if its good for a noob!)
jpackage-fc” what could I do?
you mean http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/8/Schedule ? it’s a “Fedora 8 Schedule” link on the front.
upgrade to a supported release… fc4 is no longer supported.
garu, I can’t really say. I’ve been using fedora since core1, so some of it is pretty routine to me.
starbird humn…I see
can I do that from within the server?
starbird thanks alot…I’ll give it a try…cause what’s the worst that can happen, right :o!
garu, I would say backup your current system if you can, and give it a shot. Maybe try a few distros and see which you […]
Force-LoopBreak option.
whats this?
anybody know
what are you trying to do?
i’m trying install some packages
sarge? etch? sid?
http://rafb.net/p/u2QJnu87.html
the one thing you *cannot* do is remove libc6.
could you please pastebin your sources.list for me
anyone around using qla2xxx hba on a debian 2.6.8?
!anyone
polls
and also the output of apt-cache policy libc6
http://rafb.net/p/1TusOp55.html
i am having problems getting the qla2xxx hba driver module installed on debian 3.0? 2.6.8 kernel, someone around having a hint for that?/using it?
aren’t there modules in the stock kernel to support that hba?
could you pls pastebin the output of: apt-cache policy libc6
_prsr_, in 2.6.8?
qla was included somewhere around 2.6.18 or .19
k, well i don’t know if there are backported modules for 2.6.8 then, might just want to get a more recent kernel then
_prsr_, not an option
thats why i specificly asked which kernel/debian version, there is a installer from qlogic but it fails miserable on debian
http://rafb.net/p/jmAhyb61.html
may be conflict betwen mirrors
your system is a mess. what have you done?
well, unless you want to backport the code yourself there’s not really any other option
is the qlogic installer supposed to create a module for your current kernel?
You have a combination of a sarge (i.e. debian 3.1), etch (debian 4.0) and lenny/sid (testing) packages.
if so, you’ll need to make it […]
